    Hi all

The main BIOS screen shows the CPU and system temperature
However the hardware monitor gives a CPU temperature as well. This is usually 5/6 oC higher

Why are they different and which one is correct.

Also is there a quick way to see the CPU temp when you are playing a game ?

As above. Use RealTemp or CoreTemp.

Regarding the BIOS readings: one will be reading package temp, the other will be reading 1st core temp. There's always discrepancy between the two as one's for the whole lot and the other is for one part.

Have a bash with the trial of Playclaw for overlays while playing games, it works very well.

I have always found HWMonitor to be perfect, tells me everything i need to know CPU, GPU, HDD and PSU voltages and it's free.

The HW monitor is part of the MSI software which comes with the motherboard
Its just a an icon on the main MSI menu which is why its so confusing so one screen says one CPU temp and another says a different temp

Grab hwinfo64 and interface it with rainmeter, set your cpu/gpu/whatever temps and utilization stats to always on top. This gives huge flexibility to what is shown, and you can make it look however you like with fonts, colors and etc. It works great, though there are a few titles here and there that seem to cause some weirdness like big blocks around the meter, flickering or meters not showing at all.
