As above, due to this vodaphone offer, I'm tempted to see if I can get something new.

Currently have a pair of DT770 250ohms connected to an e7/e9 combo.

Anything worth going for up to £300ish? (so £150)

Also any in-ear recommendations for £50 max? (won't get very much use, so no point spending a lot)

    Thanks

Nothing significant, imo. Could be worth getting a set of portable headphones like HD25-1 II or Amperiors.

The Shure Se215 are my low end IEM pick. You should be able to get those for <£70, especially with the vodaphone offer.

    Ultrasone Edition 10 - £1,599.99 even without the discount that's a bargain.

Eww Ultrasone. Their sound signiture is an affront to my hearing. Way too sharp.

If only they sold the Fostex TH900 or Audeze LCD3

    Maybe the Grado PS1000? :p

    The Shures do look good.

I very rarely listen to music while on the go etc due to normally being with other people when out and about, hence why I don't want to put much money towards something portable.

A friend recommended the AKG701s, if I could increase my budget a little (say to £350) then would it be worth it?
Don't mind about open/closed back really, I'll be using them on my own, so whatever is better soundwise really I guess :)

If money was no object I'd love a set of HiFiMan HE-6 and a Ray Samuels Dark Star.

Just need to save for a little while...

Aren't the black ones only £10 more from iheadphones with the deal? Brand new etc?

And if I'm looking at 2nd hand, then what about the HD600s or T70s for a similar price?

You're already at the level where taste and personal preference are the dominating factors in any new purchase decision. An upgrade is difficult. I would recommend simply expanding your collection.

£170 for a set of AKG Q701's is a good deal, they're not great condition and the box is missing which is never good for the resale value.

They will have been thoroughly burned in though.

Just something to bear in mind.

I haven't got a code, but if they are then I'd get the new ones. The T70's are supposedly seriously lacking in bass, but have excellent treble, mids and highs. The HD600's are always a solid choice.

I should be able to get a code.
Fair enough, looking at iheadphones, the HD600s are £150, Q701s £180.
Then various beyers I like the look of (880/990)

    Argh I just don't know.
Also looking in headfi I saw:

    Any good?

    Edit:
Didn't notice the HD600s were out of stock.

Just had a quick look at the flagship test on headfi, and they rated quite well.

LOVE the look of the Q701s - so stylish! Bit out of my price range though :(

Grado are really good at rock and jazz music. They suck for gaming and movies though (mainly due to the tiny sound stage). I use the igrado's for running and they are amazing. If I wasn't a student I would have some higher end Grado's by now. Another advantage with Grado's is they don't need amplifying. My UE triple.fi 10 got more benefit from my Fiio E17.

Ah ok, well I'm not someone who really wants to be swapping headphones for different types of music :/
Don't have that kinda money really to be able to afford those kinda tastes, also since I'll often change style on a song by song basis it would never work :p

Do love the wooden cups you can get on the grados though, look sooo good...

I wish I'd heard about this iHeadphone offer BEFORE I bought my HD598s. :(

The 325i and 225i are supra-aural and sit on the ear. A lot of people find them exceptionally uncomfortable to the point they actually hurt to wear them, I certainly did. However there is a mod that allows you to use the larger cups of the RS series to alleviate some of the comfort issues.

They work with nigh on everything so don't worry about genre specific cans both of these are very versatile imo.
