Triplets matey!

Although worryingly I'm at 86-87 atm.... Heaviest I've ever been, but also in some of the best fitness.... Just need to stop eating so much.

Regarding my ankle I mentioned earlier in the week its starting to feel better, but the Dr says its just soft tissue damage, so I'm all good for snowboarding on friday!

How tall are you? 86kg is not particularly heavy.

I'm 1.83m, same as Lovah, hence the twins remark.

86kg isn't 'fat' for my height, but I needed to address a slow creep in the wrong direction that had dveloped over 6 years. In 2007 I was the fittest I'd ever been and probs weighed 78kg or thereabouts. Since 18 I've had an athletic, strong build, but as football was always my game my build, although fine for general male ego purposes, meant CV fitness for 90mins of up & down had always been a struggle for me. It was only through my 20s that I began to understand that I could push my CV system harder than I'd previously been prepared and got to my fittest at 26. But at my 'peak' I got an inexplicable injury that is still with me today, and so I've gone 6 years without playing regular football, or any other regular exercise. Without realising it over those 6 years I put on a stone and it was only through photos of me in the bath () that made me realise I was starting to get the middle-aged spread that I would prefer not to and wanted to recapture what past glory I could in spite of my injury.

Anyway, weight loss is weight loss, who said you had to be heavy? When I used the word 'lardy' I meant a reasonably fit me, but a slightly lardier version of that.

That's fair enough. I was just curious is all.

I'm 183cm tall as well and 86kg is into the yellow range in the BMI index. I went from 96kg to 75kg through dieting but this has gone up slightly and i'm now hovering around the 76-77kg range with out dieting which is great! When the good weather finally comes and I am able to get out on my bike i'm hoping this will go up through muscle build up. I'm more interested in my waist size than weight.

96kg is my target weight, but then I'm 190cm tall. I'm currently 89kg (11% body fat), so I've got a little way to go yet.

Got my 12 week weigh in tonight. Not looking forward to it at all.

The target was 5% of my starting weight which works out to 6.905kg (starting was 138.1).

Last week I was down by 5.9kg

If I don't hit that 5% loss then I don't automatically go onto the next stage of the program which I have been attending.

We are also having waist measurements taken (not too worried by that, almost dropped 7 holes on my belt so far) as well as a reach test (hmm) and a 6m fitness test which you can bet your hat I will be pushing HARD on.

Just a little concerned that I am not going to be hitting the 131.1 that I need to tonight...

/*addendum*/ I did it, weighed in at 129.9kg which is an 18lb loss over 12 weeks.

Sit and reach has gone from 8 on the scale we use to 14.5 and fitness test went from 737m to 775m over 6 mins. I know i could manage better on that but it's the turns at each 25m that are killing me.

Well the scales are all lying to me! Some say I've dropped weight, some say I'm back up at 88, I don't know what to believe.

What I do know is that I have tough mudder in 18 days and I'm finally beginning to feel quite pumped and fit again. I know I need to find some monkeybars to practice on but aside from that I'm pretty confident.

In the last week I've cycled, gymed, ran in the rain with a log through a forest, and generally worked myself into a eating frenzie. My rowing technique has also really improved for some reason, I'm managing to get under 6 minutes for a 750 meter (gym) row which I'm quite proud of.

Its good times over here. How's everyone else doing?

Well done Lance, that's awesome news.

I can't believe Tough Mudder has come around so fast. It only felt a short time ago you were signing up for it.

I've started going back to the gym after my time in the States.

I feel a complete fatty after coming home.

New York is the reason for my health drive. In 6 days I put on a solid 3kg of fat.

Almost another hole down on my belt, that will make 7 so far. Weight has not dropped much of late as I haven't been able to do much in the way of exercise. Managed to wrench my back after misjudging the step down distance getting off the bus, walking has been hard, let alone anything else.

Mind you the codeine I have taken for the pain has been fun...

Getting things sorted so I hope to be back on track later this week or next fingers crossed.

Thanks bud, pretty happy with the belt measurements so far.

Unfortunately my back problems are a touch more than a twinge every now and again, I burst a disk a few years ago and every now and then it likes to remind that that it is ####ed. Thankfully I am getting pretty good and getting things sorted out having gone through the pain of it many times, I don't even bother with physio anymore as I already know the exercises that they are going to give me, I just get on the pain meds and go through the routines. A couple of weeks of that and I am normally back to how things should be.

Glad to see everyone is making progress. I've been bad the last 2 weeks and busy with school / projects / exams but I can say I'm down 19-20 pounds. Back to where I was pre-arthritis and though I don't feel much different, I feel better about my eating habits and other people seem to notice which is good. Weather is finally starting to improve so I expect after exams to be getting out a lot more, so I'm excited!

It's always great when the weather changes, and you're feeling better in your self.

It gives you the confidence to wear out the clothes you purchased earlier in the year.

Personally, I'm finding it hard to get back in to the gym routing. I've been making too many excuses for dropping out of it.

I know that feeling from my cycling, its too windy, too late, too cold, too wet, too short a time to go.

For me I've had to tell myself a few times that 30 minutes in the gym is better than 0. And getting into the habit of going is worth it. So I've forced myself not to accept that excuse.

Be strong dude, fight the excuse, fight the temptations and be strong.

Hu rah!

(when did I become a cheesy american?)

Been going swimming again as i did a few years ago. Need to lose about 8kg in the next couple of months. Swimming 5x a week and running 2x a week and cycling once a week should have it in the bag. Just got to make sure I eat the right thing's. Excersise isn't the problem, it's the diet thats the hardest.

I love swimming.

If there was a pool close enough to me, I would give the gym up in a heart beat, and go every work day.

I've been doing a bit of weight loss recently, so I'd thought I'd chip in.

I'm roughly 6'2", and always a bit on the heavy side since year five (I.e. 6 years ago) as I was on steroids for asthma most of the year. And when you get heavy when young, its alright. However, as you get older, and past the point a bit of weight helps growth in puberty, it gets a tad embarrassing, huh?

I think at the very worst, as about a year and a tad ago, I was approaching, ooh, 16st. Since then, I've made two key changes: 1, stay away from the biscuits, and 2, play more basketball. Great sport if you find people who play it properly, as in to the rules and methods. Playing it by throwing a ball up occasionally isn't any good.

I'm now 14st 3, although I got below 14st recently, I've gone from stretching a 38" waist to having to tighten with a 36" waist and people have noticed. It's wonderfully pleasant.
