Hi all, I've been having some issues with my machine the past few days. It keeps coming up and saying that the nvidia display driver has stopped working and has been recovered. I've done the following: Downgraded to previous version of drivers - issue still happening reinstalled lastet version - issue still happening Installed FW update from EVGA - issue still happening Cleaned out all dust - issue still happening Tried upping the voltage as suggested on EVGA forums - Still Happening The display driver crashes when trying to do anything from opening a file, opening the start menu let alone even trying to play a game. Any suggestions? I don't want to start an RMA and find out the GPU isn't the issue. I've ran the usual malware scans and nothing comes up, same with memtest and HDD checks
Its only started happening yesterday so I'm not sure if its a windows conflict and it was working fine up until yesterday when I was playing Hitman. I installed the latest drivers on the Monday so surely if there was a conflict it would have started before Saturday? I've put in an old GPU Radeon x600 ( only one I had ) and the system is fine and stable and no longer freezing when opening apps like it did with the 570. Don't have another PC to test in unfortunately. I'll take an image of my SSD and do a reinstall of windows and try it out on that.
Time to RMA it then, good excuse to upgrade, time to order a 680 or 7970 and sell the replacement GTX 570 I think
Working for one of the places you are likely to send it back to I will advise that you do as I have pointed out as sending it off to find there is nothing wrong with it will only annoy you. So fresh install on a spare hdd and test from there. Some windows updates can cause conflicts that lead to this sort of thing thats all
Yeah I've just re-installed windows and it seems to be working, very strange that it just seemed to happen so suddenly though
Thats windows for you. Microsoft make a change and do not care what they break. As far as they are concerned, its the job of Nvidia or whom ever to create work arounds in the drivers and not theirs.
Very annoying thought but at least I don't have to RMA it now Still thinking about upgrading though. Its been running on furmark for the past 20 minutes grand, any thing else I could run to test it?
