Anyone else sitting in darkness at the moment? I'm at the folks' home near Petersfield, currently on the phone trying to get through to the house alarm people as the battery is running out and as a result it's activated.
Has been fine yesterday and today in Bury. Had a power cut on the 23rd so retreated to the pub with phone chargers etc for a few swift pints. Pub had a telephone outage so only accepted cash (or tabs for us chosen ones)
Cheers fo the good wishes all. We ended up going to the Aunt's for Christmas and staying overnight. Apparently power still hasn't been restored in our area. I don't mind to be honest though - Christmas Eve we had a nice candlelight family dinner. During the day I walk the doggy and build my Lego model! You damn Yanks! Do you guys get power cuts? I wonder if the American infrastructure is more robust?
Our place in Haslemere was out for about 24 hours from 11pm on the 23rd onwards. Then I went to my folks' place (also near petersfield, Harting), and we were all good.
We've been out since 9pm this evening, I have brought out my supply of battery powered lanterns, work lights and flashlights as well as a few oil lamps, candles and lanterns to keep the place illuminated until bed time. My bro is watching Homeland on his mates ASUS G53 laptop which he's borrowed for the stay over Christmas and I'm posting this from the X230 which has 6 hours remaining on the current battery, and a good strong MBB signal When all laptops and phones discharge, I'll plug the whole lot into my 1000W power inverter in the car and charge 'em up again
The power came back on just after my last post. Happy days! I think about 10,000 homes are still without power though.
Diesel* and along with my full tank, there's almost 40 more gallons of it in the yard Anyway, we got power restored after just 2 hours last night. Well done Power NI Powerteam! Still though, note to self: buy a generator in 2014!
