I feel for you there.

We had a bit of a close call when my youngest was born in November '11. Wife had issues with our first with her heart rate dropping quite low so thankfully her GP sent her over to Great Western for an echo on her heart when she was pregnant with our 2nd.

Lucky really as the nurse found a tumor. Less than 4 weeks later she had a c-section, 2 months before the due date, followed by heart surgery 5 days later. It was crazy during the C-section as we counted 21 medical staff in the heart surgery theater. They had the cardio team in case there was issue and the various pediatric teams for my son.

Son spent a month in intensive care before he could come home. The care from the John Radcliffe was nothing short of exceptional and we did some PR stuff for the hospital.

He's been back in a few time with chest infections and it's starting to become a recurring theme. The first time he was in with pneumonia was a right pain as when the dr x-rayed his chest they found a rib had been broken at some point, and the Dr at Swindon really didn't handle the situation at all delicately. It was a good thing I was at work as I'd have gone nuts at the accusation, which in hindsight would not have been the best move.

Thankfully the Cardio Dr from Oxford who arranged all my wifes OPs stepped in a said it most likely happened during the birth (the surgeon did an odd procedure of taking the womb out before removing the baby... It was very odd and required a lot of manhandling of my son). needless to say it pissed the team at oxford that delivered my Son but resulted in the investigation being dropped as they could not tell when it happened and the birth was the logical cause. We only found out afterwards that we would not have been able to have taken him home until we were cleared and that the nurses had to keep an eye on us. Really not what you need when your kid is ill in hospital. But it is all because of the failings with the Baby P case.
