I have a AMD 4800+ 2.59ghz dual core processor. Its running the single tray client at the moment. Is there an advantage of runing the SMP client? Both core's seem to be 100% full load all ready with the system tray. noobie question sorry
Nope just the CPU. Which SMP client do i use there are two Its a Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit with 4GB ram.
I enter my computer account name and pasword on the install.bat it encrycpts it to the registery and then can't connect to a socket? somthing about ports? im sure this is why i gave up last time
Is UAC turned off? Do you have a password on the PC? Try an uninstall & reboot then reinstall. Usually it's caused by a lack of .net 2 but Vista should have it installed already.
It dose have it already installed thats the first thing i checked I'll take UAC off and uninstall reboot and install again like you said Yes there is a password for the pc, and i did enter it in for the install.bat
Quick question was % of usage is the default set to? how do i go about setting it to 100%? coolings fine so not an issue 120mm Coolermaster Hyper TX heh
nope ill do that now. so what will teh target look like with the -smp on? Im trying to add it but it won't let me
dont worry http://fahwiki.net/index.php/How_do_I_add_flags_using_a_shortcut_to_the_console_client? done ahhh the beautiful sight of 2 cores at 100% now to see the points Thanks mate
Mate, Search the folding forum here for "Notfred", and you should get about 5 hits. In the bottom one, there is a link from Saspro to a VMWare guide for setting up VMWare clients - it is a piece of piss (I'm picking up on Saspro's technical jargon now!) to install and configure - I was worried that I knew nothing about Linux so wouldn't be able to work the VMs, but the guy who wrote the Notfred client has made it all self-contained, so you need zero Linux skill to run this. If you have Virtualisation enabled in your Bios, the VM will detect it is a 64 bit setup and start two Linux SMP clients automatically, doubling your points compared to a windows only smp client. It is no harder to set up than a normal Stanford client (your woes with windows SMP aside!) I did it on my dual Xeon Dell, but it doesn't support 64bit, so wouldn't start the SMP clients - but it was smart enough to start 4 normal clients for me instead! Edit: found the VMWare guide link - http://www.maximumpc.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=92133 provided by Saspro Give it a try! Craig...
I'll try it. I installed VMWare before but couldnt get the dam thing to run plus this windows SMP is doing nothing lol 3 hours and notjing has been done lol
