You're downloading a Linux distro or something, right? (the thread is going to get locked otherwise :p )

Yes, download µTorrent. Start it up and it will propably ask for connection configuration or something. Choose your connection speed and use all other default settings. You might want to limit your download and upload speeds to 90% of your max speeds because otherwise it'll get clogged and slowdowns will occur.

Then just get the .torrent file and open it in µTorrent and choose where to download. It'll start automatically and download.

Here's a quick guide, but bittorrent is pretty advanced and you'll have to mess with the settings to get the best configuration.

Good advice tbh. Set your upload to leave between 10 and 15KB/s for your other browsing, otherwise it slows everything down.

One other thing - SEED AFTER YOU'VE FINISHED. Biggest trouble with torrents is people who don't seed (aka leechers).

Doesn't matter what it is. The whole idea is that it needs people to share.

On Tuesday, for example, I'll guarantee that the number of leechers on the Win7 RC1 will be enormous. :\

helps to increase the max connections per to 150.. yeah agree set upload limits, 4/6 while seeding and leave around 10k for yourself (up)

uTorrent, or a pre-Vuze verion of Azureus. My friend swears by BitLord, but I can't stand the advertising.

I liked Azureus better than uTorrent, but the latter is far more lightweight.

Nothing wrong with post-Vuze Azureus. Tools->Options->Interface->Start->Show Interface Chooser cheesecake. :D

jopers: You've probably found a torrent from a private tracker. Try another.

Exactly what i was about to say, at first i loved the new styling of Vuze when they brought it out, then it just began to get very annoying very quickly, found out how to change the interface and haven't looked back since.

The RC1 hit the Torrents last week, but yeah, most people either don't care about seeding once they have what they want, or don't understand how this whole P2P thing works :sigh:

I used to use Azureus and liked it very much, but after trying uTorrent I wouldn't want to go back. I do miss the SafePeer functionality, though. Sure, you can specify an ip filter file, but you have to maintain it manually.

The µTorrent EXE is a few hundred kB in size. Azureus is coded in Java, hence it uses TONS of RAM.
