considering W8 app store is only metro apps, i don't see any reason NOT to go with Steam.

I'd buy non-game software from Steam, as long as it's cheap! I don't see anything wrong with it. The Apple App Store is amazing, I'd be lost without it. Well ok, not lost... but I would be carrying around a pretty useless, generic phone if I wasn't able to so easily buy the 300+ apps that I have for it!

A Windows version of that would be absolutely fine by me

Incidentally, the fact that I have 300+ iPhone apps is also the reason why I won't be moving to Android. It has nothing to do with Android or the hardware it's run on, it's just not economical for me to move over now. If I hadn't spent so much on iPhone apps, I would be seriously considering it, but in my case, Apple really did just get there first.
