This is a very small project pretty much involving just the case. My good lady has decided she wants an orange case for her PC which is currently housed in Coolermaster 120. As a Coolermaster 110 came available on the Marketplace and as I am stuck for something to potter at apart from the white acrylic backplate for my GTX 980 I am in the process of organising, I thought why not give her an orange PC. I have decided to wrap a good bit of the case after seeing Bulldogjeff's beautiful blue result on his current Silverstone FT03 (bought from me I might add). Case arrived yesterday evening and at the moment I am stripping it down ready for wrapping and painting. I discovered I had a Lian Li PSU extension bracket which I will use to aid airflow. But I will need to drill/tap new screw holes and i have just broken the drill bit needed. Still await arrival of paint/wrap and now drill bit. Pictures will be added after my good lady's sister returns my camera later today after taking happy snappy's of a new born baby.
A few bits came today. Notably the drill bit so could drill and tap the holes for the PSU extension bracket. Masked ready for painting. I have decided to paint the rear of the case and the front mesh. i am looking for some black to be seen just to break up the rather garish orange. First coat of primer. Is this orange or what?
"You wanted orange, i'll give you @#$*!%☆ orange!" Which is another way of saying that that orange is very orange!
Thank you for commenting lol. But you are right. She wants orange she gets orange, though she is now saying it is a bit bright. Too late.
Thanks. Oddly enough I have done two sides without any boredom and just the top to do. I do not seem to get bored very easily these days and strangely I think it relates to serious ill health some six year ago.
568 holes later. But there must have been a bit of grit or something on the board I was working on as it has made a small hole in the wrap so now to address that issue. Never again will I wrap something with so many holes though I must say it went on rather well and with the correct smoothing tool was very easy to remove any bubbles. A heat gun is also useful.
Off to a nice start Glen. the lads are right , it's very orange. But if thats what the lady wants, thats what the lady gets. That said, it will work nicely with the black.
Cheers Jeff, The vinyl went on very cleanly, was most chuffed although I could have done without the 568 holes to cut. Still i had my trusty scalpel as I have no brain surgery this week.
You need a bit of down time for that.. That is a hell of a lot of holes. The wraps quite easy once you get the hang of it , isn't it.
I have yet to transfer components and obviously there is a difference in shades of orange but.........
From looking at the last pictures, it looks like it's going to be a bit heavy around the back - luckily the psu will be the last part to go in, otherwise it might have a slight stability issue After poking all those holes, i hereby grant my blessing for a half hour break. That would have driven me mad beyond salvation doing that!
