Hey guys looking at getting a new graphics card. I have about £150 to spend on one. I have been looking at cards like the 4890, 5830 something like that. It would be nice to get directx 11 but if i get more performance out of games without it then i would prefer that. My screen resolution is 1280x1024 but I'm planning a upgrade soon on the monitor and it will be something like the dell 2209wa so ISP panel around the £200 mark so you can guess the resolution i will be playing at. The games i play are World of warcraft, mass effect, left for dead, crysis and a few more. Basically i would like to play most new games on the highest resolution. Thanks for any help given. The 460 is unlikely to buck the trend so either it wont be upto 5830 levels of performance... that's the Ati card it's aimed at! (Nvidia aim high yet again!) and or Fudzilla is out on the price... given €160 equates to £150 approx ya gotta wonder! Care to speculate? Yes it's Fud again but that site seems to have a "special" relationship with Nvidia! Basically, all this 'wait for the 460' smacks of 'wait for fermi' ...dejá vu anyone? My advice: find a new or nearly new 4890 with an aftermarket cooler (like mine )) that or find some extra pennies and get a 5850 OR wait til autumn and see if/what Ati do next.
something like this then XFX 4890 I have seen a 5830 for sell for £135 here im not sure if its new or anything what do you think?
5770 Vapor-X? It can be overclocked to perform like an 5830 and with the Vapor X the card will remail cool and silent.
4890 vapor x on eBay last night for £70 check if it's still there it's faster than both cards and you can overclock it to 5850 speeds ( within 1fps ) Best deal I could fine for 5830 was on. Scan they were after £145 cooler was stock though
At your current resolution, I'd recommend the XFX 1GB HD5770. It's within your price range and supports DirectX 11. Why is there any reason to wait for a card that is definitely going to be less powerful!? The only Fermi cards possibly worth getting are the 480 (for pure performance) and the 470 (for SLI scalability), but ATI's cards have them beat by miles for price vs. performance. 5830 is the best (new card) you'll get at this price point and nothing in Nvidia's Fermi range is going to change that. 4890s and GTX280s are good bets for older hardware.
I was going to get a 4890 till i looked on the internet and its meant to be quite loud. I looked at a few youtube videos and it does seem quite loud. As my computer is now quiet i dont really wanna put a loud graphics card in it. Ill have a look into the GTX 280 though looks like a good card.
The Sapphire 4890 Vapor-X is cool and quiet but I think they cost more than £150. The reason the standard cards are loud is due to the fan, caused by the heat. Getting one with better cooling is going to be quieter.

Never seen/heard of them. They have a contact number (on the "Contact Us" link) so give them a call and suss them out. Ask them about the card to see if it is stock and if it is actually that price, then ask about delivery. Try a google for anything posted about the site and see what comes up. If you do end up buying from them, make sure you do it with a credit card to ensure you are protected.
