Where did you buy it?

I got my D5000 from Jessops with the accidental damage and just sent if off with a lens attached that wasn't on that warranty (55-200 £90 from CEX) and they fixed both free of charge.

Well they replaced the lens I think.

I really hope you get this sorted, loosing my 55-200 was painful enough let alone the 14-24.

Nikon have agreed to repair it free of charge if I pay postage.

Thanks to everyone who gave advice on the Sale of Goods Act. It seems that advice works.

Also I now know the English translation for it In Finnish it's called "Virhevastuulaki".

So you're telling me that I could purchase a broken lens on the ebay, and if the thing is less than 6 years old, I could send it to Nikon/Canon and they'll fix it for nothing ?
