Don't know if anyone here has seen these before, but Corsair is prepping two new mid tower cases, the Obsidian 550D and the Carbide 300R.

I especially like the monolithic look of the Obsidian 550D, and I bet there are some modders out there seeing a nice blank canvas as well. :)

Just found some hands-on pictures over on LegitReviews.com.

I just _love_ the way they've handled opening the door on the 550D. Also, the adaptable cooling with removable panels and magnetically held fan filters is a great idea. Reminds me a bit of what Fractal Design does on the Define, but I like this approach even better.

Lastly, I find the Carbide 300R to be a relavitely subdued gaming case. How refreshing after all these garish case designs for the über 1337 gam0rz!!1! :)

It is nice but I will stick with my FT02, not going to get a better air cooling case than this!

If I had the necessary space depthwise I'd be all over the FT02 as well. Alas, I have not, but the 550D looks very promising as does the Lian Li PC-90 which I also still have my eyes set on. :)

    I like the 550D :D

Will be interested what the reviewers say about it with regards to temps and airflow.

I know I will keep this case for years, I don't need to watercool as I think overclocking is a waste of gaming time :) Unless I SLI 570's in my case... but I need more VRAM for my U2711 :(

I don't really think its worth the extra £40 over the r3. It may be made out of aluminium but at that price I would personally rather have the white 600t :)

I like the 550D, but think I'd still rather have the 650D.

Of the two, I think I prefer the way the 550D looks, but the main question is... where are the fan intakes? I don't see no front intakes or space for air to flow through the door. Did I completely miss something?

Also. Bet you the 550D will also cost a bomb.

i read it in your voice and it made me really depressed :(

i like the 550D, wish there are no side-cutout though, wish it would be a sleek panel. other than that, looks like a worthy successor to p182, R2/R3.

I like the 550, but the 300 looks unfinished with how the fan holes are positioned.

Unfortunately looking at the Legit link posted to see more, the 550 ends up the same way when you add more fans. It starts off looking great, then you add fans and you wonder who forgot the fan grills.

The reason why I don't like them is the carbine is just plain ugly, but the thing is with the obsidian is the i/o panel looks like an after though, looks like it doesn't belong there. Then there is the stupid cut outs, WTF were you thinking corsair?

550D, lovely looking thing that is. Reminds me strongly of Lian-Li's cases. I think I'll stick with Lian-Li, because I hate front doors, but it is a nice case, that.
