I was actually looking at this the other day.

The 3GB version from EVGA is only €409, whereas if I was to buy a 1.5GB 580 from Ireland or England, it would be €450 or more :D

It would help if you wanted a tri-screen gaming setup but be careful to check the clock speeds, sometimes cards with more ram are run at much slower speeds.

The EVGA card with 3GB has the exact same clock speeds as the "baseline" 580 :)

unless your using massive resolutions, i.e. 2560 x 1600, or triple HD resolution, then basically no, the 1.5Gb card is fine

    This.

1.5GB has been fine so far for 2560x1600, the only exception being Crysis Warhead with true_gamer's autoexec applied!

Having said that, I'd have picked up the 3GB version if it had been available at launch.

The latest dx11 and texture mods for crysis2 eat up 1250mb of gpu memory on my gtx470 at 1680x1050 res - if i was buying a 580 today i'd pick up the 3gb version.

I'd get the 3gb version too - it will future proof you quite a lot (and that is pretty much the only reason to get a 580 anyway!

Same here. I might have to wait for the 3GB or 4GB GTX 680 when they come out. Cause at my resolution, Crysis needs allot of video memory!

    Cheers,

    Simon
