Interesting design - seems a shame to have a separate compartment for the PSU and loads of cable routing to keep things tidy and then not have a window to show it off...
I dunno, if it feels like a $500 case then I don't necessarily see an issue in principle. The finish certainly looks superb. I do see the issues as others have mentioned though - WC capabilities compared to competitors namely. I think if there were greater modularity it would be a different story - I feel like the option for a nice big rad would hold greater value than space for 6x 3.5" disks in the front portion, and again with the SSDs, I feel like a couple of concealed bays would be a more useful option than 8x taking up space. EDIT: And if you're going to cater to those that wants lots of drives in a $500 case, IMO a SATA backplane is a must. The branding is a bit much though.
£400 for that. What a joke. Its like Antecs engineers are completely oblivious to what other case designers are doing, and have been doing for years. I like Antecs budget stuff but they really haven't moved on since the P180 a decade ago.
It's pre-order at Scan for £400 I just think any case is too much money at £400. Unless it's bringing something entirely revolutionary to the table I just can't see it selling. Don't get me wrong - it looks like an awesome case but you can get cases that look just as awesome with most or all of the same features for £100-£200 cheaper than that...
Perhaps it's intended as more of a halo product for future direction? I can't really figure out who it's for otherwise.
Someone who has allot of hard drives. I don't get it, what boxes does that tick that other cases haven't already :/
It's a tough sell when you've got cases like the TJ11 complete with hot-swap bays built in, and space in the front to challenge storage servers for the same sort of money. It's unfortunate that whenever I ponder a conspicuous overkill build (come on, we all do this, right?), there's not a case out there that suits. Is a case capable of housing E-ATX and a few of big rads but forgoing all but a pair of 2.5" bays in the name of being as compact as possible too much to ask for?
No chance is this going to sell well! For that money I would atleast expect PCB backplanes for the hard disks to have full hot swap setup. As it is, it looks worth no more than a £150 case.
Maybe I just would if there was only an appropriate case to make it so! ... And unlocked E5-2600s, come on Intel, why unlock the 1600s but not the 2600s? ... oh yeah, and a solid rationale other than conspicuous overkill itself.
£400? You're having a laugh. Is that including the 1300w PSU in the last pic? It'd still be overpriced.
...and therefore doesn't exist. Although, maybe you have hit upon something there - its selling point being that it's the Keyser Soze of the computer case world?
really nice case, but for $499 you can keep it. Phanteks are offering quality thick metal build materials and top design for much much less. that said, its still a stunning case, good to see antec back on form, but please rethink your mad pricing. Selling 2 cases at £200 each is better than none at £400!
