so ive went to not being able to overclock, to being able to overclock and now not being able to overclock. my problem this time is my CPU ratio wont go any higher than 34, so even if i type in 44 for a 4.4Ghz overclock, itll just go back to 34. Ive reset CMOS and im now using the latest bios, my specs are in my sig, anyone got any ideas?
Have you tried upping the voltage slightly? Normally I just would crash with not enough voltage but some updates affect this. Push the voltage up slightly and try it again. Failing that, reset and clear the CMOS fully by leaving the battery out and it unplugged over night.
ive tried upping the voltage a tad and nothing changes, i might try remvoing the battery overnight and see if that helps. Ive only been leaving it 10minutes or so. and narwen, what do you mean "have you switched overclocking on in the bios?" as far as im aware i dont have to, the CPU is unlocked so all i should need to do is increase my voltages and multiplier.
Tried selecting the xmp profile for the ram? and are you setting the multiplier for per core or auto?
yeah but i doesnt do anything to the CPU :/. I dont have any turbo ratio, iGPU, PLL voltage options to adjust. They were all there before this happened, Ive since then reset CMOS, updated BIOS, reseated the CPU and cooler. My next idea is to try rolling back a BIOS and see what that does.
Eh? isn't this your mainboard? In section 3.4 the options look almost identical to mine. Change AI Overclock Tuner to manual, things should change.
Make sure that when you are exiting the BIOS to boot it is actually saving the changes. Mine went through a stage following an update where I had to manually save to a new slot then load from the slot. Couldnt just save changes. Let me know if that helps otherwise I'll have another look. Matt
Your problem sounds strangely similar to mine: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=255504 although you've tried the fix that solved it for me. My problems all started since updating to the latest BIOS, and since fixing it by re flashing the BIOS it's happened again. I'm gonna give it one more chance then roll back to an older version, so I would suggest you give that a go too.
You have to turn on the OC in the bios. Otherwise it will ignore anything you set as it defaults to auto on cmos reset. Ai overclock set to manual. Sent on my CM10 JB powered i9100 by TapaTalk 2

On the first photo, after you set it to manual you should get an option to change the turbo ratio. This is what you will increase to overclock. Make sure turbo is set to on and then that option should show up.

Yeah ive checked my manual and i knoe what it should look like :/. Ive reset cmos via the jumpers and reseated the RAM and still no change, ive also rolled back bios, no change and then instead of updating via the ez flash utility in bios i used the asus ai suite bios updater and that did nothing either. is your CPU reporting as a K range chip in CPU-Z Edit ahh scratch that i see it does in the BIOS. strange one
It is a weird one, what happened was is that i was priming at 4.6ghz, all was good for half an hour then the PC shut off itself. It didnt shut down, it was like someone had pulled out the power cord, and since then the cpu has been at stock and non overclockable. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
You are making changes in the wrong section. CPU Power Management isn't where you overclock on Asus Boards, I should know I have one xD Though that has different menus to mine. Have you checked CPU Bus Speed? On P8P67 the list is similar, except I have a By all cores setting and then an actual menu to change the max turbo ratio when I overclock.
according to this guide http://www.overclock.net/t/1291703/ivy-bridge-overclocking-guide-asus-motherboards. You set the by all cores to w/e you want you OC to be then change CPU ratio to the same as the by all cores settings, but the core ratio limits don't appear when i hit manual as you can see in the screenshots ;/
