Project sponsored by Thermaltake

I was excited when Thermaltake came knocking asking if we can mod their Level 10 limited addition into into the Avengers for the release of the new Iron Man movie and Computex .

We discussed concept ideas and with a solid design plan we began to assembled the Avengers team.

With the case on the bench,I begin to the disassembly process,
parts labeling and packaging

Now with the case completely disassemble, parts labeld and packaged up,Ill start on the first elements of the build..The Captain America optical drive cage.

I used 00.80 styrene to cut, form and heat shape the ammo pouches, belt, harness, map pouch and star.

I used a dremel with a small engraving bit to simulate the leather stitching in the plastic.Once its painted it should look like real leather.

[IMG][/IMG]

With all the rough work done, I can do some mock-up on the panels.

Time for paint and graphics

With the optical drive bay completed, I want to start masking up the case body and prep it for paint.

The plan here is to create riveted panels and a two-tone paint scheme. I first applied these small adhesive pearls that will look like rivet heads once the paint is applied, sprayed a metallic charcoal then my detail tape lines. The rivets will be finished with a titanium dry brush effect later in the paint process and the clear coat will seal the firmly to the case body.

Time to apply the same paint scheme to the hard drive bays,6 total and a million screws.

The vinyl letters will create my paint mask and once removed the metallic undercoat will be revealed.

Up next is the S.H.I.E.L.D PSU cage

I want to create a illuminated sign that will be attached to the cage door.First I print out the image and transfer it to my styrene.

Next I begin cutting out and sanding down all the pieces.

Paint in a gradient effect is applied next.

I adhere the logo to a thin piece of smoke black transparent acrylic

Same paint process will be applied here as the case body.

Time for side case door panel.
Thermaltake requested the Mark XLII Iron Man Chest Plate for this locating. Will Do Sir!!

The following pics show the entire process from templates design, constructing and paint.

The first thing to be constructed is the Arc Reactor

Gary Lee, Thermaltakes Market Rep requested one for himself so I made two.

Up next..the under armor and mesh.
I used the same styrene material, heat form and shaped in this process.

In this pic I cut the template into some bristol board and do some mock-ups. Tho this piece is static, I want to have it function like the real Mark XLII suit, opening at the lower chest area revealing the Arc Reactor.

In these few shots final paint is applied to the Mark XLII chest piece and mounted to the door.

In this shot, most the panels have been mounted,Thors Hammer constructed and mounted to the case door.

Thermaltake requested this be shipped without a system installed so I apologize for no sexy pics of the hardware we all love.

Heres the final studio shots

I saw a picture of this on facebook and at the time i thought it looked awful, like someone had bought some kids avenger bits and stuck them on a case. Oh dear lord was i wrong! Those pictures did not do this any justice what so ever. The the attention to detail is just incredible. I shall go and wash my mouth out with bleach for uttering such nonsense.
