hi guys.. wondering if anyone having the same probs as me running my i7 2600k 24/7 at stock speed it downloads a unit an in first say 1hr it says will finish in like 8hr... then after a few hrs that changes to like more than 1.5 days...to 3 days ive tried deleting the unit to download a new one but it is still the same this is also affecting the performance of my 480gtx the unit at the moment is a 8583...an its now saying 2.9days
ive turned off my comp as its been running 24/7... now the new unit its on 8570..... it reckons my cpu will be doing just over 15000ppd.... is that about right for an i7 doing that unit??
Really varies with units, could be as low as 15k and as high as 30-32k. Does task manager show all cores/threads being used 100%? Have you left one free thread on the CPU to allow the GFX card to fold as well? As Nvidia cards need one thread/core to keep them stable.
at the moment it says the cpu is doint 17k...that's running 24/7...at 4.4ghz...6 cores I changed it so it was 6 cores running sso the gpu had more... 480gtx is running just over 15k... I didn't know how many cores I should leve for gpu...that's why I put it to 6 cores
An nVidia GPU requires 1 CPU core to allow it to 'do its thing'. You can run without allocating it a core, put the GPU PPD will be lower - with high end cards, this has a big impact on PPD. Six cores is probably a good number to set it at, because there have been issues with people setting the number of CPU's to a prime number, e.g. 7, in the past. Stick to 6, and then you've future-proofed for adding another GPU
well ive been running my cpu with 6 cores now....an the cpu is getting about 15k ppd....is that about right?
Have you tried running with just the cpu and 8 threads to see what wu's you get and the ppd's? I am running my i7-2600k at about 4GHz, lol cant remember what I set it to now, and getting approx. 30k ppd. Running on ubuntu 12.04 and client v6. Not sure that should make a major difference these days. Currently running: TPF: 00:06:50 / PPD: 31942.3 / WU: P8557 (R1, C4, G79) Maybe not worth the electricity to run the GPU if you can get 30k with just the cpu.
