I need a little more light to help my live video feeds to be clearer to the viewer.
A small desk light is too focused on an area for what I want, and there is not the right floorstanding lamp for the purpose.

so I have decided to go the custom route...

I am not looking to add anything to the light circuit in the room, from the cieling rose, or the mains sockets, as tthese already have enough plugged in.

I have got an led bulb - http://www.clasohlson.com/uk/Unidirectional-LED-Capsule-Bulb/Pr364131000
This works fine from the external molex connector on the external back face of my computers PSU.

The shade I'm going to use is this: http://www.diy.com/nav/decor/lighti...erived>black/Tezz-Metal-Pendant-Shade-9956483

the problem I have is I want it to be positioned above the desk where my equipment is. I cannot fix into eiter the wall or ceiling, due to them not supporting anything of any weight, therefore it must be fixed to the desk.

I have my laptop and monitor on clamp-on arms - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vertical-Mo...DT5E/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1358138450&sr=8-2
which it could be fixed to.

I am also open to other ideas as well

This is where I need some ideas and input on what I could use to get it in the right place.
What could I use and how?

Hmmm... why didn't you simply add a diffuse LED Strip ontop or around your monitor?

And what walls and ceilings can't support 1-2kg of weight anyways? Are you living in a cardboard-box? ^^

I already have a couple of the ikea color changing led strip sets around the area, and behind the monitor.

The light needs to be coming from the top down, as it is needed to see my DJ mixer clearer.

just a thought... I have the previous version of these table legs (no height adjustable feet, but just a plastic cap): http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/90217972/#/70217973

maybe it could be used upturned, with a gooseneck (http://www.maplin.co.uk/gooseneck-microphone-stands-3572)?
probably screw a couple of the goosenecks together to get a longer length?

    Ah, I see.

Well, I'd be getting some timber to build a "crane" for holding the shade. Something like this, but better looking ^^

You just need some Continuous Lighting Kit Soft Boxes, they will give you a diffused light that is perfect for video.

They can be packed down and put away when not in use so won't take over your room when your not using them.

I will be using the light when not broadcasting as well, it is more than for the video. it is to help me see better, without it being too bright.

I want it to be a permenant installation in my room.

have you ever thought about using RGB led strips? They can provide you with allot of light and are easy to mount. I got mine on ebay from china for $25 and are working nicely in my desk.
