Hmm. No update for me. I'm using 4.4.2 and it is fully up to date apparently.

If it's the same one as the S5 don't bother updating. It's been out about 5 weeks. Its crap and very buggy and won't let you roll back. Samsung apparently know about this and still put it out. There is no patch available to sort it out yet.

My brother moans about it constantly on his S5. I think I'll take that advice and leave it for now. :/

It keeps jumping out of apps. Either that or it just hangs and won't open them. Loads of people I know with S5's moaning about the same thing.

    And over clocked lol.

It may just be the S5 that it's affected.

has he tried clearing the cache from recovery? This sometimes sorts out a few quirks when updating android.

The update will also be carrier specific so not everyone will get it at the same time.

I have rooted my s4, updated to 4.4.2 and restored SD access with SDfix.
I have no intention of putting this on my phone.
I would choose a custom ROM before 5.xx

CM12 all the way, sooooooo much better than anything Samsung came up with! More customisable and more like Android was intended to be.

Didn't realise Samsung were going to Lollipop on the S4. Thought they stopped it at 4.4.2?

    REALLY REALLY REALLY EASY!

Read this then come back in 30 mins, it really is easy with Samsung devices: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219803

I was scared when I did mine, but I've rooted and installed custom ROM's on loads of phones now. Rooting really doesn't do anything to your phone. Just gives you the ability do more things if you want too, like installing custom ROMS etc....

XDA is the best source, if you get stuck give me a PM, more than happy to help, some phone's can be confusing to root and download the right ROM.

The S4 has a few different models GT-I9500, GT-I9505, GT-I9506, each are slighty different. Which model do you have if it's the 9505 I'll point out the files to download as that's the one I have.

    Regards
    GiGo

This is the simplest guide on the net:

    http://www.samsungsfour.com/tutoria...i9505-s4-running-on-android-4-4-2-kitkat.html

Once your rooted/customed recovery software is on visit:
All you need to do is go to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-develop

That is the whole page for ROMS for the S4 GT-I9505, download the ROM and put it on your phone, enter custom recovery and then select the file your want to flash.

If you have an issue message me and i'll try and help.
