8Pack is ace when comes to overclocking.
His wisdom on X79 overclocking (thread) shared in the forums, helped me to get the i7 4820K to 5Ghz overclock with almost no effort. (the CPU runs perfectly more than 8 months right now)

Lets see how good he is with old LGA775 stuff that sorts the men from the boys...

Manufacturers have made the process of overclocking so much easier and user friendly these days pretty much anyone with a basic knowledge of pc hardware can achieve quite a respectable overclock.

Hay just add some extra voltage here and there stick on LN2 pots and its pot luck depending on the CPU lottery.

My Q6600 was running at 4.2Ghz for many years, on my old MSI Nforce motherboard.
(then intel chipset of the era was pants when came to overclocking)

I would say the X58 platform was the last where you needed real knowledge and skill to overclock. Anyone can do it with ease now.

Football is easy to play... Anyone can kick around a ball. Same goes for overclocking. Comparing these guys to the average "anyone can do it" overclocker is like comparing a 15 year old Junior League player to a Premier League player... Overclocking these days is easier and far more user friendly than it ever was before but that in no way undermines what professional overclockers can do.

Tend to agree with Fracture. Maybe it is easier to start, but taking it to the levels these guys do is a totally different thing.
