the pc version of this game is a joke. maximum settings make this game look about 8 years old. pathetic.
Read the title of this thread in The Comic Book Guy from the Simpson's voice... That's all I have to add to this thread
the new one of course. looks worse than ps3/xbox 360 versions and about 4 leagues worse than grid and dirt 2 (or 1).
I should imagine that the old one has worse graphics than the new one, since graphics engines have updated somewhat in the last 8 years.
i think the point is a driving game released 3-4 years after race driver grid should have far better graphics and not far worse. also any current pc game (pc with decent graphics card) should have graphics that far surpass ps3/xbox 360. this is not even dx10, its dx9. well done criterion.
If you develop a game for PS3/Xbox360 in the first place and then port it to PCs, it could be, that the result looks worse. Wouldn't be the first time we've seen this.
Clearly far worse than the console versions... [/sarcasm] An absolute stinker at 1080p as well of course . Read this if you can be bothered.
Yeah, that's a pretty good example for way better optimization on the consoles. The antialiasing is hardcoded on consoles and the developer simply didn't thought about this in the port for the PC-version and that's why you can't even enable it through the ATi or nVidia-panel. The textures are more crisp tho, as they thought about this part in the PC-port.
From your comments it sounds like Criterion Games have dropped a clanger here which suprises me. Burnout Paradise looked great on the PS3 and even better on my PC. Many people including myself gave Criterion Games much credit for the way they supported Burnout Paradise. Is there a PC demo around?
Well from the screenshots I honestly think it looks pretty decent on P.C and no I'm not blind but the 1st screenshot comparing the PS3 against P.C is clearly darker, you can see more detail on the P.C screenshot, same goes for the 2nd screenshot it's too light on the PS3 and more realistic/just the right amount of light on the P.C version, and I'm not biased just because I own a P.C as I don't have the game it's just my opinion.
Exactly, the PC version uses a better lighting and shadow model, higher resolution textures and probably higher polycounts in the models. The only issue is the lack of AA but that can apparently be forced by the graphics card, depends on your model. Sure it's not the best looking PC game ever but it's definitely not bad at all.
you can't judge graphics from stills. despite the bad graphics the frame-rate is a joke. i sent my copy back to amazon.
Without trying to sound cheeky, your system (as listed in your sig) seems quite low end so maybe the problem is with your hardware. EDIT - Also what monitor/resolution are you gaming at?
Why does a Burger King Cheeseburger look better than a McDonalds one? Because they are completely different. You are the only person I hear that thinks the graphics look like an 8 year old game so surely its logical to assume the problem is at your end.
I'm usually quite bad at spotting the (lack of) effect from AA. But in this case, aaaggghh the jaggies! EDIT: This case being the new game.
