Anyone know of a way of getting out of paying the £130 connection fee with BT? I'll be phoning them this afternoon to try and barter with them, but if anyone has any suggestions, that would be great! Cheers for any help!
When I did it I got a business line on a 18 month contract. They then didnt charge a fee. Think the rental wasnt that much dearer but at the time id just moved in on my own and didnt have 130 to spare so worked for me.
yeah, phone line is there, just no socket. Found out post office are offering free line installation. £15 if cancel contract before 6months.
Check out Post Office, saw they're offering Free Connection,£12.95 line rental. Didn't enquire as have line already. But it might be worth finding out more, just call in nearest Post Office and ask Beaten to it by WarrenJ !
No. You don't. Ever. Don't ever think it works like that. That's what they'd LIKE you to do. If you want a good ISP for gaming, I can't recommend BE Broadband enough. If you'd like a month free with them, let me know too!
BT currently offer new lines for £25.00 PO offer their own lines on a 1month rolling contract 02 offer their own lines on a 1 month rolling contract TalkTalk offer their own lines - but are ****. Alternatively you have virgin and you don't need a line at all.
Best to stay away from the big boys, they traffic shape to **** and generally have bad support. My recommendations would be (in no particular order): Zen, IDNet, and BE. I'd probably switch to BE myself if my exchange had it.
Wow, that's nuts. You HAVE to have yours with the provider here. By law, I think. Not sure if law or simply stupid business practice. Makes no matter to me, I simply can't get broadband.
ADSL24 are decent too. No shaping or throttling. Their policy on "Fair" usage is decent, I eat through 150GB most months, and have managed over 300GB a couple of times (The missus streaming HD for 80% of it), and I didn't even warrant an email off them. YMMV of course.
