Welcome to my project named Elegance.

This is a personal project which will be used as a light gaming/HTPC in the living room. With this PC I plan on introducing some games to my wife, and hope to spark up an interest in co-op gaming. There is a strong focus on design with this project as there is not alot of space to work with. I plan on focusing on extremely clean cables, a sleek industrial interior and improving the ventilation to the Graphics card. This project is named Elegance as I want this project to have a sleek look inside which matches the brushed look on the outside. There will be super clean cabling, and will also be a better performer than stock ;)

This project will consist of the following hardware:
CPU: Intel Pentium 20th Anniversary Edition G3258
    CPU cooler: Cryorig C7
    Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87N-Wifi
    GPU: EVGA GTX750Ti 2GB ITX
    PSU: SilverStone SX600-G
    SSD: OCZ ARC100 240GB
RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum 8GB 1866mhz
Chassis: Raijintek Metis Silver - Windowed

    The mods that will happen:
This project will have my custom signature inside paneling with a brushed finish. These panels will cover and streamline the inside of the chassis, and various components.
I will reverse the reverse layout, so that the chassis' motherboard orientation will be as a standard chassis. This is for 2 reasons: 1. No one has done it before and 2. To improve and supply airflow to the graphics card.
Create an IO shield and Wifi card panel on the motherboard
    Maybe install watercooling loop.

    Final words..
So with this all said and done, let's get on with the project shall we?

    Kind regards,
    Justin "MetallicAcid" Ohlsen

    That old chestnut ;)

Sounds like it will be an interesting build, it's a small case so not a lot of room to play with. I'll be interested to see how clean you leave it looking!

I hope so, I look forward to the updates. I keep looking at the case mods people do and I would love to achieve something like it myself, but I simply don't have the design head to think of something to do, or the knowledge/skills to create such a build. I have an 800D and it's watercooled, but... Well it just is nothing fancy! I would love if I could just think of/do some little touches to make it nicer to look at...

    Update 1

Chassis photoshoot and inverting the inverted orientation.

Upon closer inspection of this lovely chassis, I noticed this chassis has a very simplified construction, which is using only screws. I also noticed that the chassis sides can be mirrored in a way that I can reverse the motherboard orientation with almost no modding! So I went ahead and reversed it ;)

Let's start with the chassis photoshoot, and some playing around:

After flipping the motherboard like this, I noticed that I just needed to drill and tap 2 M4 screw holes. So I went ahead with this mod:

This is an awesome and easy mod that almost anyone can do. This is also a great way to fix the thermals of any GPU which is used as it will be able to draw in fresh air from under the chassis, where the HDD/SSD holes are. If you want maximum airflow, you can always pull out your trusty Dremel and get to cutting. Just think about a dust filter and you will be fine :) Remember that this chassis is aluminium, and SilverStone's magnetic dust filters will not work..

I really hope you have enjoyed this mod, and might want to try the same thing yourself :)

    Kind regards,
    Justin "MetallicAcid" Ohlsen

I had almost the exact same hardware in my ITX pc, which I unfortunatly had to sell due to lack of money, and I can tell you it'll be a nice little gaming rig. It ran Shadows of Mordor really nice, League it handled with 120+ fps and BF4 was also playable.

Thanks mate! This PC I have made so that I can eventually lure my wife into Co-Op gaming :) ;)

    Updates..
    Parts and stuff!

    Hey guys and girls!!

I would like to continue this build log with showing most of the parts which I have collected so far, with the rest pf them shown later on. This project would probably not have happened without the help of my sponsors Inet, Gigabyte, OCZ, SilverStone, Cryorig and Raijintek, so thank you once again! Intermittent updates will appear with these parts over the next few days, then we get to the nitty gritty action!

Thank you to Josefin and Ted at Gigabyte who believe in my work, and who have provided this motherboard to my latest project. The colour scheme matches perfectly, and all of the functionality I need for a HTPC is there.

This SFX PSU SX600-G has been entrusted to me by Marie at SilverStone. Too much power for this rig, but if I ever upgrade my GPU to something more power hungry, then I have it covered :)

Thank you to Inet and OCZ who have provided an OCZ ARC100 240GB SSD to this project!

Daniel at Inet has been really supportive with helping me by contacting OCZ and acquiring a sample of OCZ's legendary ARC100 SSD, which have been tested to run at least 5times their rated limit. Also, the build quality of this SSD is solid featuring an all aluminium chassis.

A powerpacket of a discrete graphics card, the EVGA GTX750Ti 2GB ITX looks the part, and fits perfectly (literally - physically!). Not to mention it is powered by the PCIE lane, so there is less cable clutter helping the aesthetics of the project!
