Windows Steam games won't launch

I bought Wings of Prey in the Steam sale and it won't seem to launch, and neither will Dirt 3 now but Portal is a-ok.

I have disabled Virtu to see if that was anything to do with it but no luck

Lots of others having this problem it seems but no answers.

Anyone got any ideas?? Only waited all evening for the download to finish and now nothing. More typical PC gaming experience

 

Update: Tried various compatibility/admin/resolution modes with no success tried to launch with Virtu as well as trying to launch from launcher.exe file in steam folder. No luck

The launch screen will flash up for a fraction of a second then vanish like something is force closing it. Tried without anti-virus on.

Man this sucks, finally got an evening alone and my PS3 is laughing and mocking my PC (in my imagination)

Have you run yplay first and downloaded the patches?

 

Whats yplay? google says audio player??

Oh yuplay. Ok will do. Take it its just the latest version?

Ok all done (finally) and its all working. Wahey! Only done the training missions but seems pretty good, captured that era quite well I think and not too over the top for once. Only problem is I'm talking like a toff in my head Huzaaaaaah etc etc.

Only strange thing is during one of the missions it says the zoom button has moved to numpad 0 but it wont register the presses???!!! Argh frustrating when the stupid guy keeps telling you to press zero when your bashing the crap out of it.

I just got this game in the summer sale and have the same problem, does anyone have a link to the yuplay download ?

.. is this the always on DRM known as Uplay ?

if so..... bugger, I've been trying to avoid any games with it
