My lads phone has gone into a boot loop and none of the solutions have worked so I want to flash the firmware. After downloading a bogus copy of Odin and having some dodgy software get installed I had to do a system restore and now have the proper Odin. I'm trying to find the correct firmware but unsure where to look as the places I have looked are either confusing or don't seem to have what I want. The phone is a Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i. I also have it on the download screen at boot and it says do not turn the target off, does this mean I can't turn the phone off now?
Try links in this thread first Then optionally try these for a cyanogen version of android - gives more control over more features and removes the crapware that comes bundled as a "bonus" Just read all instructions (at least twice) and follow them to the letter if you decide it's for you/your son - seems 10.2 is latest available (jellybean flavour android). Have this version on my htc one m7 and it's been great for me. Linky to pure Android goodness
Well I don't seem to be able to do anything, the USB driver says it's installing then fails, I try to do it manually and it says the best driver is already installed. I try to download the firmware from the link given but I just get taken to this page where I don't seem to be able to download anything.
Sammobile should be your only source for anything Samsung since RomKitchen went down all those years ago. Source: Owned and modded Galaxy 1 - 4 before finally moving to Nexus
OMG this is driving me potty. I can't use the cyogen 10.2 as it says it doesn't work on S5830i which is what I have, I download the firmware from the site linked and the files are different to what the Odin guide needs, I try to download the firmware from Samsung updates and I get given a bunch of options with nom idea which one to choose, I choose the one I think it is and then get taken to a download page where the mirror links don't actually work. AAAAARRRGGGGHHHH
sammobile page download from there.. you may have to join a free membership to get them and follow the instructions on the page. edit. Just joined myself and it works fine
I hadn't bothered as messing with this as my son had a phone on loan from his sister which he has now smashed by accident, so I downloaded what I needed and attempted to flash the firmware but all I get is this.. Anyone got any ideas? Is the internal memory knackered for good maybe?

Yeh I have been on there, information overload plus no one responds to posts it seems. Managed to flash it but it's still stuck in a boot loop.
Yes and wiped cache. It does say can't mount data though so I'm presuming the memory can't be written to.
And you solved your driver issue? Latest I could quickly find here http://developer.samsung.com/board/download.do?bdId=T000000117&attachId=0000000003 Odin is quite poor when it comes to drivers. When I am back at a PC I will check for a better answer. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Tried most of the firmware's available and although they flash okay the phone is still left in a boot loop. I can get a new motherboard for £17.99, is that worth a gamble or is there anything else I can try?
have you tried flashing only the recovery (twrp or cwm )and them flashing the rom from the recovery ? it's been a long time since i had a samsung but i think it might be possible
