I am looking to upgrade one of my PC's from XP to windows 8 for software compatibility, but I can't find any specific windows 8 drivers for my motherboard!

Can you use Windows 7 drivers, or will I be a bit stuck?

    Build is as follows:

Motherboard - Asus P5K Deluxe WiFi Intel P35 (Socket 775)
    CPU - Q6600
    GPU - 8800 GTS
    RAM - 4GB
    Soundcard - Asus Xonar D1

Any help/experiences would be appreciated, as I would like to avoid having to go back to XP if I can help it!

    Cheers

Windows 7 drivers should work fine on 8.

Great, cheers for the quick response. Do you need to run them in compatibility mode, or will they just install as usual?

They should install correctly without any special steps.

The Asus Xonar sound manager panel (whatever it's called) didn't work correctly on 8 when I first tried it, though the drivers did. The situation might have changed by now though.

As mentioned the Windows 7 drivers will work on 8. Now, the driver setup might have an OS detection code, and refuse to attempt to install itself on Windows 8. In this case, run the setup under compatibility mode to fool the detection code in thinking you are running Windows 7, so that it install the drivers. After restart, you'll see that the driver and device will work fine.

You can find Windows 8 drivers for your ASUS sound card, at ASUS web site.

I used to run Windows 8 with that motherboard. Worked a treat.
Even if it didn't, surely it'd be better than XP ;-)

Excellent, thanks a lot for the positive answers :) I'll give it a go this weekend and hopefully get it all up and running.
