So... You've woken up in a random location, maybe after a stag do. Do you know where you are? Can you work it out just by taking a wander? Here's some practice for those that want to test themselves. My first try I got over 9000. GL HF. http://geoguessr.com/
First go got 11525, All fairly recognisable places, it was fun though and gives me a reason to put off revising for a bit.
3.2km off on round 1 out of 5 - 4 more rounds to go! 44km for the next one, 3 to go! 4.3km on the next one. just over 20k score
For most of them at least I was in the correct country even if I didn't know exactly where they were... not bad for someone who has never been off this depressing little island...
I kept mixing up Australia with other places. Hilariously I got very close with the US and South American places. I keep getting dirt roads with no signs. HOW THE HELL DO I KNOW?!
Must admit i did that once... my though process is usually which side of the road are the cars on, what language are the signs in style of buildings
Same with me. Doesn't help when it gives you a road in South America with no cars and just desert. D:
Just struck lucky, getting within 50m. Lake District knowledge combined with train stations is useful. Total points: 15902. Linky.
Your guess was 1386.507 km from the correct location and gave 2072 points. Pfffft, saw a donkey on the side of the road, guessed South America, was in the right continent...
best score : 27750. Best distance: 0.043km. Ok, it was the main builing of the university of sntiago, in spain. (where my sister attended for 3 years).... And 7 mile bridge in the Florida quays. And Downtown Macau.. which i recongnised.. the other two were somewhere in the middle of the australian outback, and somewhere on the poland/germany border. Which having driven over many, ,any times, i can tell you now, they all look the same... Good game though.
Stage 1 - 53.651 km from the correct location (somewhere near to Kiln). Saw a few Russian signs and fortunately I can read them. Stage 2 - My guess wasn't so good, I had the right country and a vague idea of the area as I saw a sign for St George in Queensland so clicked on one of the many roads to it. Your guess was 236.136 km for this one, I was a bit too far to the south of the location. Stage 3 - This was a somewhat easy one to get close to as I know Latvia quite well from my time in Belarus. I got within 1.491 km from the location on this one. Stage 4 - I was just dead lucky on this one as I was dropped looking directly at an old landmark North-West of Barcelona on a hill, a few steps back up the road and there was a nice sign stating exactly what/where the landmark was... Santa Perpetua de Gaia. Ended up being only 0.14 km thanks to that lucky placement and a well signed road for tourists. Stage 5 - This was probably the luckiest placement I could possibly imagine. I got dropped off on the Mitchell Freeway directly outside the Perth Convention Centre, right next to the massive sign on the back corner by the junction that says "www.perthexpo.com.au". A bit hard to not get within 0.10 km with a placement like that. Ended up at 0.02 km on this one by just clicking on the wall of the building. Game finished! You got 29132 points in total. Overall I'd say I had a very lucky run. Luckily I didn't get any in places like India/Africa as I wouldn't of had a clue.
What a good idea for a site. Got about 15k, worth 5 minutes of fun. ETA: Just went back, didn't realise you could move! Makes it rather easier.
I got one where I couldn't move. It was just a 360 shot of some small resort looking place with a pool and palm trees. I guessed Jamaica, but it ended up being in Namibia somewhere. My best has been around the 9,000 so far, although I did cheat by googling any place names I saw in one round and got a total of 23,000, that did include the static on though where google was of no help.
12183 first go. Best was 1.6 km away. Worst was confusing South Africa with Arizona (help from google a little). I think it is more fun when you just guess from the first place you are put and don't move.
