    Hello everyone,

I am in need of some advice. I started building my new pc today.

    Motherboard: Asus P5Q Pro
CPU: Intel P4 2.4ghz Duel Core
    Graphics Card: Asus EAH3850 x2
DDR2 Ram and all the usual.
    PSU is a 600watt unit.
    300gb HDD (IDE)

Windows build worked fine, was a fresh install to a blank hdd.
I Installed ALL Mobo drivers first, rebooted system, no problems.
Then installed video card drivers, after the reboot when windows was just about to hit the desktop....it shut down and reboot. And it continued in that vein.

I entered safe mode, no problem. I removed the video card drivers. Rebooted my pc and this time in went into windows without any problems at all.

I downloaded the latest mobo drivers from the Asus website and the latest video drivers as well. I installed the mobo drivers first.. reboot no problem.
I installed the latest video drivers and rebooted, the pc goes into a reboot cycle.

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Ok so I checked the IRQ conflicts. Windows has assigned the Video Card an IRQ of 10. That is expected as its the free IRQ as standard (10, 11) So its not an IRQ issue.

I am now at the end of the road, I dont know whats going on, there is a conflict somewhere I just dont know what it is :wallbash:

As soon as you install the video drivers, the pc wont boot. Bombs out just as Windows XP loads.

    Any advise is greatly appreciated.

    Thanking you all in advance.

Ouch, you got a HD3850X2, they don't even sell those anymore, wherever you got it, I'd suggest you return it, it has practically no driver support and is almost unknown to the populace.

Huh, Well I knew a few people who didn't have too much luck with it.

Just out of curiosity, which drivers are you using?

Def. not the best video card choice, if you can still return it, I would try that.
