That sucks man, could it not have been kids with a stone or something?

(BTW you picture is truly massive and destroys slower connections!)

I have 60mb and it took a year to download for me (image shack sucks)

it actually looks like a stone hit it or a powerful air gun TBH

if someone was going to rob you it would make more sense to smash a window that opens then open it and climb in, not smash a huge window because amount of noise it would make to be able to get in would mental.

In the corner like that I'd say it's a break-in attempt - classic place to get through a double-glazed window.

It looks like your beading is on the outside. If so, it would be easy just to lift out the whole piece of glass and make no noise.

If you want to really worry yourself and you have a pvc door, google 'lock snapping'. A youtube video got me worried.

Back gardens are virtually inaccessible here, never had kids screwing around before either, also none of the ground floor windows open enough to get a chihuahua in let alone a person so this window is annoyingly the best bet. It could have been kids but the hassle they would have to go through to get into my garden just to throw a stone seems unlikely.

That would work on new toughened glass.

This ^^^ Looks like a classic corner punch-like tap. A stone wouldn't make a generally centralised hole like that

This is why all my windows have laminate on the inner pane. Means it breaks like a car windscreen which is a pain for thieves to get through. Local police suggested it after we god broken into. It helped, they just destroyed our back door with some kind of pickaxe.

I have an absolutely identical hole/spread pattern in my bedroom window from a chucked stone. Mate tryin to wake me up.

It could be just that, but where it is and lack of access is suspicious.

^^^^ she is quite slow. I've seen them do it (on youtube a while back) with a hammer or grippers and a screw driver in under 30 seconds. It doesn't matter if your door has lots of bolts, hooks etc.

    Scarey.

If were going to get annoyed at the sick members of our society, I would like to share a story.

Back in 2009, my Grandmother developed terminal lung cancer, and ended up spending the rest of her time in a care home; it was saddening to see her go, but we have to live through these things.

A few days after she had passed, we had a phone call from one of the neighbours. Someone had broken into the house; so we had to go around and see what had happened, and wait for the window to be replaced. It seemed pretty obvious that the burglars knew there would be no-one home; the kitchen window looked like it had been smashed in with a sledgehammer. The scum then proceeded to steal several items, including a handbag, and several items of jewellery. None were of significant monetary value, but they were of sentimental value to our family. That hurt more than anything.

Anyway, times have passed, and I expect no sympathy. But if anyone decides to break into my house and I know of it, they're going to get a lump of 4x2 to the skull, and bleach in their eyes. People who make a living by taking what is not theirs are scum, and the penalties need to be much hasher in this country, to reflect the emotional impact that such as distressing situation causes.
