Hey guys, one for the hive mind.

    I have this monstrosity [IMG]

    It's an Acer G3-710 Skylake i5-6400 8GB DDR4 - 1TB HDD - R9-360

The issue, It will randomly freeze and I mean completely lock up.

    Have tried:

    1 - Removing the GPU
    2 - Reseating RAM
    3 - Reseating CPU
4 - Replaced PSU (With known working PSU)

Lock up issues still persists, it happens at random, could be just after boot or could endure 2 hours of futruemark without a hiccup.

Any ideas Next step is to replace the motherboard, any ideas?!

    Morning Hawk,

Thanks for you reply, it would completely lock up, no BSOD or errors just totally unresponsive.

Ended up replacing the entire motherboard, found a thread on the Acer forum claiming a batch of duff boards, looks like the power circuitry was unstable to keep up with demand.

Shitty OEM board, skimped out on the components!

Typical, I've not purchased an OEM board since about 2002, other than the few laptops i've owned over the years, not much you can do with them.

Glad its fixed... what did you do with the old duffed board?

Yeah it was a PITA, as of course the Windows 10 Digital entitlement key was bound to the board. So I had to phone up and grovel for a new Windows Key.

Board is just sat on the shelf, I'll WEEE it off no doubt. It works but isn't stable.

it'll be a good mini-project to try and figure out what's faulty about it... then sling it in a donor bin or fix it...
