Windows 7 recovering mozilla bookmarks

I have been having trouble looking for my bookmarks that I accumulated after I installed Windows 7. I did backup my files on my friend's computer and transfer over to the hardrive again. I looked around the internet for solutions. I've already checked users\*username\local\Mozilla\Profiles\********.de fualt\. For some reason the bookmarks.html file is not there.

Does anyone have an idea of what happened? And what I should do.

An easy way to do this without trawling around is to use Mozbackup. It's not exactly what you were after, but it compresses everything unique from one firefox to another in a single file; extensions, bookmarks, cookies, history, the whole shebang.

adam_bagpuss will become famous soon enough
u have to backup the bookmarks first then navigate to usersname\etc\etc\etc

copy the bookmarks.html

then paste it into windows 7 directory which is users\etc etc\profiles\mozilla\etc i think

then you open firefox and open bookmark manager and import the file

Another option (and not very useful to the OP but useful info) is to use xmarks (look it up in google). I couldn't do without it now. A nice little extension that basically keeps your bookmarks online but updates the usual Firefox bookmarks seamlessly. Very very useful if you have a couple of computers or even flit about between browsers (for me for example it synchs bookmarks across my desktop PC and netbook). A version for Chrome is apparently in the works.
