Scratch Build – In Progress MATX air cooled gaming rig - 13-July-2015 complete

New project time, it's a MATX air cooled gaming rig, open chassis with carrying handle, really easy maintanance, hopefully I've put enough thought into it all holding together well.






Just getting the pieces made before I start bending/curving, assembling, doing a little each day on it.

Thanks, cellar room that was going to waste as a storage (hoarding) room, cleaned it up & added work tops, nice having a dedicated space to mod in.



I'll try to post progress every time I reply to keep it a productive log.



Cut, drilled, tapped & added m3 brass inserts to the back IO expansion piece, made from 10mm acrylic.






Mounted to the back panel.






Mobo panel added.





Saving the curve cuts for when I have the curved pieces done to increase chance of lining up correctly.

 

I used to use my basement as the work shop now it's just for the heavy tools like the bench saw etc,
I ended up taking a wall out between the two upstairs front rooms and converting that into one big workroom, It annoys the A'holes next doors a lot more now lol

Anyway nice going it's really coming along

isn't the non-centered position of the handle going to bring the case off-balance when lifted?
otherwise, looking good, and looking forward to following the progress!

 

Could do with adding some colour to make it a less miserable room to mod in but an mp3 player & headphones mostly sorts the gloom effect.
My neighbors are nice luckily so I keep any noisy work for during the day.
Yeah it's coming along faster than I thought it would.

Possibly, it's definitely speeding along, even more so with my self imposed rule of make some progress whenever I reply.

I think it will be fine but don't know for sure, will do soon enough though.

Curved & bent the PSU cover, front panel is just resting in place.

Actually the shadow is of the curve bender handle.
To be honest I don't know how complete this is, still very early days on it.


Load of drilling & tapping for mounting the 33mm acrylic support blocks.



And added 10mm acrylic psu cover supports.

 

Fully mounted the psu cover supports & added the side panel.












Next I'll mount & curve the front panel.

 

Late session went on the custom fan mount.

 

OMG those Fan holders are from another Level of modding

Got it close to the design curve but it's a good job I saved the cut until the curve was done.

Defintiely a nice tool to have, even the cheap one that broke due to misuse was good while it lasted.
