Are you just straight not allowed one or do you have to have a certain number of posts? And if they're just not allowed why?

They're not allowed for anyone because they make a total mess of a forum.

I hate pic sigs, even with a semi-decent internet connection it takes a while to load simple threads

I totally disagree after just coming from the OcUK forums because they piss me off! they're rules limit the sizes to 20kb and 400x70. I do agree you get some forums where they look awful but with these rules they are very good!

And they are smaller and far cleaner than your sig the_beast!

With the correct limits they are fine in my view but I probably won't bother personally if they were allowed.

Only when you have more posts than me you are allowed a sig pic.

THAT IS THE RULE OF OPTIMUS BINDIMUS THAT YOU MUST OBEY SIR.

Plus, you got an avatar didn't you?

Oh by the way, since you don't want a signature I borrowed it, Bo ;)

But what if you looks at it the other way around? Why should we be allowed to put pics in our signatures? Do pictures give more info than text could in any signature you have seen?

Remember that the signature should really be just that, a signature. Not that anyone actually use the field for that, bot that's another discussion altogether.

    Kept! :)

Just because if you were allowed a picture as a sig it doesn't mean it's compulsory!!

No, but unfortunately it seems like it's mostly people with bad taste that take advantage of that feature. :p

So my sig is dirty? I think it follows what most other bit-techers use as there sig format

+ does it really convey any more information than a standard text based sig

For many of the threads in this forum, such as the ones in the Project Logs, Modding, and Art and Photography sections, the last thing people want is more images to load and get in the way. Avatars are all in a uniform location out of the way of posts and are already a visual identifier. It's also much easier for Optimus Bindimus and company since they don't have to be bothered with inappropriate or incorrectly sized signatures as often without pictures.

Mr. Bindibadgi, are you trying to create a wave of spam with comments like that?

    As for my 2p...

    - Signature pics increase loading time - even if you're on a fast connection
    - The temp files go up on my computer at a fast enough rate as it is.
    - Pictures tend to look untidy when in a signature as they are in the same part of the thread as the message body.
    - A lot of them look crap because it's just a random mixture of images and style, and no real thought goes into them

    TL : DR

No. Not now, not ever :)

If you want to see why the sigs are limited to a couple of rows of text (I'd like the limit to actually be two, because I really don't know why I should care about other peoples' setups in non-related threads), just head to Xtremesystems forums. The signatures over there are disgusting enough to keep me from using the forums. Pictures or long sigs are nothing but absolute waste of space.
