So it's that time of the millenium and my brother needs a new rig. I've come up with a few options for him, just want to know if there's anything you'd change. I'd be pillaging optical drive/storage drive from his existing tower.

So, the main list below is the coverall guide for the lists.

Budget: £600-700 (as closer to the £600 the better)
Main uses of intended build: Gaming, and youtube/general browsing.
    Parts required: New build
Previous build information (list details of parts): optical/storage drive will be put in new machine
    Will you be overclocking: No
Any motherboard requirements: No more than the usual

All total prices taken from PCPartPicker UK

    List 1:

    mITX build, i3.

    i3-6100 3.7GHz Dual Core processor
    MSI H110i Pro mITX
    Kingston HyperX Fury (DDR4-2133)
    MSI GeForce GTX1050 Ti 4Gb
    PNY XLR8 120Gb SSD
    Corsair Builder 500w

    £530.10.

List 2: Pushing the budget a bit, but hoping to take advantage of a few Black Friday sales

    i5-6500 3.2GHz Quad Core processor
    ASRock B150M mATX LGA1151
    Corsair Vengeance LPX 16Gb (DDR4 3000)
ADATA Premier SP550 240 Gb SSD
    Gigabyte GTX1060 6Gb
    Corsair CX500w

    £734.93

List 3: Somewhere between the two

    i5 6500 3.2GHz Quad Core processor
MSI B150m MORTAR mATX LGA 1151
    Corsair Vengeance LPX 8Gb DDR4 2400
ADATA Premier SP550 240 Gb SSD
    EVGA GTX1060 6Gb
    Corsair Builder 430w

    £673.12

I'm about to send these three lists to my brother, but I'd like to get some advice from those a bit more up-to-date in their knowledge than me

    Cheers in advance.

What resolution will he be playing at and what kind of games?
You won't see a noticeable difference in RAM if you go to DDR4 3000 for example, so better to stick with 2133 / 2400.
    Definitely go for an i5.

Appreciate the info about the RAM. He's got a 24" 1080 monitor, and mainly plays WoW, World of Tanks, but is looking at getting into Total War:Warhammer, Battlefield 1 etc. He wants to keep as close to 600 as possible, so I'm going to just look at the best Black Friday deals and go from there. Any particular brands/cards etc to avoid?

As you said, see what deals you can get. Also keep an eye out for an RX 470 (unless you really want an Nvidia card), it's a bit more expensive than the 1050 ti but you get a good performance increase for your money.

Stupid question time - currently looking at a H110 system, do the motherboards only accept 2133mhz DDR4 ram, or can I go over that?
