Hi I'm trying to burn files and format DVD+RW discs but I keep getting error windows and am unable to complete the task, I have tried the discs on another computer and was able to format and burn data to them.

http://www.lg.com/us/data-storage/lg-GH24NS90 this is the optical drive I'm using with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, the computer recognizes the disc and can retrieve data off the disc but can't re-write on it or be formatted.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks

They are + disc's, how would I check? As I say I couldn't format them on this machine, but I was however able to do so on another.

Did you get the correct firmware for your drive?

Check the cables are firmly connected.

Firmware is up to date, cables are secure, the drive will read discs and retrieve data from the DVD+RW discs (I have checked the discs are working on another computer) but it will not however write or format them, could this be an issue with windows?

Perhaps. Get yourself a trial of Nero Burning ROM

Nero said the disc "could not be closed" completed burning, ejected and when I put the disc back in it was empty.

I also noticed when inserting a blank disc Windows does not pop up giving me the option to format like a USB or burn all at once, this is of course enabled in control panel.
