This is my first mod I've posted in a while. I've been MIA in the modding community due to frequent moves so long term modding has been largely unsuccessful all though I may have a new case modding coming in the near future.

This, however, is not a case mod. Rather it is a skateboard mod. I'm posting it here because I think people will enjoy it.

Schlongboard: A skateboard with repositioned trucks that lowers the board and de-radius's the trucks adding stability at higher speeds.

    Lets get started.
    The Victim
    [IMG][/IMG]

This is a Double Impact Skateboard with a layer of carbon and 2 layers of wood reinforced with carbon. This deck is extremely strong, making it a good candidate for this mod.

And this is what makes it no bueno for skateboarding
    [IMG][/IMG]

I've started by taping off the board to have a guide for repositioning the trucks. Because of the complex curves of the board, without a jig, I think this is the best way to operate.

    [IMG][/IMG]

As you can see here I used the risers as a guide for the tape, then I was able to slide the trucks up and down to drill the holes.

    [IMG][/IMG]

Next I dismantled one of the trucks to use as a drill guide
    [IMG][/IMG]

Then I clamped the truck down
    [IMG][/IMG]

    Drilled out the holes
    [IMG][/IMG]

    And one truck mounted
    [IMG][/IMG]

    Both mounted
    [IMG][/IMG]

    [IMG][/IMG]

I took the board down the street and it rode perfectly straight. This is the fourth scholngboard I've made and by far the best.

    Buuuuuuuuuuut.......

It wouldn't be a very good mod If I left it like that.

So off come the trucks and out come the bisquick box?????
    [IMG][/IMG]

Using the boz, risers, and screws, I made a template for my cutouts that could be flipped and hopefully be pretty precise.
    [IMG][/IMG]

    [IMG][/IMG]

    [IMG][/IMG]

And how the board sits now:
    [IMG][/IMG]

So stay tuned, there's much more to come and I've got about a month to complete it so this one will be short and sweet.

Oops forgot one, here's a picture next to my skateboard for comparison.
    [IMG][/IMG]

    See ya soon ; )

I have a longboard and I love it to bits. This looks like a great runabout.

Hmmmm maybe something like this to keep the bearings lubed at super fast speeds!

More work last night on the schlong. Finally got to some cutting.

    Ran into a small snag

But I think this should be fixable with some gorrilla glue and some clamps.

Did a quick sand on all four corners with 150 grit but I think I need to go over it again after the crack is glued and clamped.

Then I set it up on the trucks just to see how it looks.

    Stay tuned!

Oh hell yeah! A nice long board with neon runner lights. That would be frickin' awesome here in Seattle in the early evening/night. You would cause accidents with all the rubber-neckers.

LOL, I thought this sounded like a project that would be close to home. You going to PAX? They're having a CPU Magazine sponsored Casemod contest! I'm trying to see if I can get my project done in time.

seems like the design would put a lot of added stress on the curves, especially with the cutouts you made... have you used this design before?? how does it hold up to body weight?
