I set up a PC for my father a few months ago. Recently, he told me that there is too much noise... so I replaced the PSU fan with a Noctua and we got a quiet PC. Now that the noise has been greatly reduced, we can hear strange sounds EVERYTIME the mouse is moved or clicked (the noise from clicking is different from moving the mouse). I'm pretty sure the noise is not from the mouse, because I use the same mouse. Could it be from the mobo, RAM or HDD ?
Leaky capacitor somewhere then. A high pitched whine/hiss/squeak.. nearly always a capicitor. If the board is new, RMA it.
The mobo is an Asus P5KC. I can't return it now... The sound is not annoying... it's not loud, but it's there... no solutions eh?
I would say HD, unless it is a whine as mentioned above. Electrical processing doesn't make a noise. Maybe a lack of ram causing the virtual memory on your HD to be in constant use?
I would say it's the power regulation. To be exact, a loose coil in there. I hear noises from my graphic card (8800GT) every time something moves on the screen! It gets frustrating as every time a flash banner rolls, I hear the noise. Thanks Nvidia for making rubbish power regulation! If it's caused by this, there's not much you can do. And even less you can do without definitely voiding the warranty Extra layers of runny epoxy is the most common way...
lol I'd look for newer or reinstall audio drivers. I got this at one point in time and thought 'wtf?!' - I think it was the sound card drivers (could have been gfx card drivers now I come to think of it).
I doubt it would be due to lack of RAM because it's got 8 Gbs. ] Yep. It's a 8800GT gfx... How do you know the noise is from the card?
He can't know, open up the case and use your ear(s) to listen to where the noise is coming from, while someone moves the mouse for you. You could always try a different gfx card in if you have one.
