    Hi Everyone,

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Pascal and i am from the netherlands and i am a metalworker/welder for 22 years now.I am infected with the mod virus and after building 2 desks http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/list_messages/1439066 its time for something else. This time its gonna be a tower and again build from scratch.

The name of this project is Flipmode.

    The drawnings.

The idea is to place the mobo under 45 degrees and putting the pump and reservoir behind the front.I also gonna use 2 koenigsegg doors in this project.

    Update 1 - 14 jun 2011

Today I started working with the plating.I chose for aluminium to make the case not to heavy.

First i cut the aluminium to the size i need.

    The corners cut out.

    Draw the holes.

Dril and sink the holes.I grapped a m4 bolt and adjusted the dept.

I also made the cover that i will place behind the frontpanel.

Now its time to compile everthing.

    Update 2 -16 jun 2011-

Today i did some drawning and afcouse some modwork.

First i drilled some holes from 3,5mm then tapped with a tap m4.

Then I started working with the backside.

Drilling the holes for the backplate.

I had a backplate from another build so this one im gonna use.

A piece of 5mm plexi drilled some holes in it and tapped them.

Putting it together with m4 bolts but they are temporarily because i will replace them for black sunk bolts.

Not its time to fit the parts in the frame.

I was wondering how much the case weighs at this point so i putt it on a scale and it already weighs 12 kg.

    This was it for today.

    Update 3 - 19 jun - 2011

Time for some modding. The hinge is ready so its time to putt it in place.

The hinge is made of stainless steel and the bearings are made of brass. The axle is also made of stainless steel.

Drilling the holes for the hinge.

Placing the hinge inside the cover.

Now its time to make the frame for the door. For this im gonna use aluminium 20x20x2mm.Everything is measured out so the sawing can begin.

The sawing is finisht so not its time to compile the door.

    Some finishing.

Then i made a plate for the axle with 2 m4 holes in it and weld it on the frame.

Then i made the same plate out of stainless steel and screw it on the aluminium plate.

Then i measured everything out and welded the axle on the plate.

It fits perfect and works like a charm.

    This was it for today.

Very nice door. Never seen that done in a computer (or much else for that matter). Is there much flex or play in the hinge? great job!

Thats some nice metal work skills you've got. looking good so far. I was wandering about the weight also, but you've answered that. It going to get a lot heavier by the time it's finished...lol
