The timestamp on the car's dashcam says 31st Dec 2012 - perhaps not directly related to last nights meteor shower.

Wow. That was pretty intense to watch.

Edit: The time stamp is wrong on that video. Check out the link that mentions photos on that page and you will see a whole bunch of other videos of the same event with the correct date on them.

Just hope they got it right and 2012 DA14 which is 40 or 50 meters across doesn't hit earth tonight or it will make this meteor shower which caused so many injuries look pretty insignificant, it's believed that most of the windows were blown out by the sonic boom caused by the meteor rather than by parts of the meteor, when all the trees were flattened by the meteor over Tunguska it was caused by the sonic boom/shock wave.

Considering how impressive this relatively small meteor looked as it broke up at low level in the earths atmosphere it makes you realize just how massive the blast over Tunguska must have been to flatten miles of big trees, the Chelyabinsk region would probably have been wiped out if it had hit there.

The photos and videos are astounding, the sonic boom especially.

I wonder what tonight's events will bring...

Well thankfully looks like only eleven people hospitalised. 525 ish injured.

But the over all area of effect is massive from the reports.

State of emergency in three district's and six cities.

I am sure we well get a better idea once the dust has settled.

Good luck for tonight everyone. (Hopefully a win for maths and science).

Just been reading the comments on the BBC about Da14 some of them are hilarious, others are from people with sub optimal intelligence.

    Funny

Oh God, the stupid is strong with this one.

Some people just shouldn't be allowed to comment if they don't know what they're talking about.

Or rather, keep their comments to the Mail.
