Motherboards EVGA SR-2 arrived today :D

i know many people have seen it already, but i still think it looks awesome, and besides everyone loves a bit of hardware porn right?

at the moment I don't have the CPU's as I'm now trying to get my hands on a pair of 5690's that'll do 4.5Ghz ;D

@ Andre_B : I damn sure hope so, I reckon I can smash the 33,000 point barrier on geek bench in 64 bit mode if I can get hold of the 5690's or 5680's cheers for that tip Bennieboy, shall keep a look out for the 80's as well.

and thanks very much, feels good to be part of it hopefully this board should keep me going for many year's to come, or that is until intel maybe release unlocked 2011 xeon chips although I doubt they will.

Also Bennie, what do you use to power the extra connectors to the CPU, I see they are 6 pin connectors

would those be any PCIe power connectors I have spare on my PSU or something?

 

wow!! how many power-connectors is that setup using overall?!

 

The board needs, both 8 Pins for the CPUs and then a 6pin for the PCI-E lanes beyond the first two slots - so you will need power both of these... The other 6 pins next to the 8's are the additional power and stable feed to the CPU, these I have found when pushing to the limits do give you that extra kick needed to get that last 100mhz from the chips - mine atleast. SO yeah I use them, but I also dont have GPUs that need all that power either..

So to give all power to all things you need:

PSU x1
8 Pin x6
6 Pin x5

and Bennie, this is why I have an Enermax Platimax 10 x 6+2 PCIE power connectors, plus 2 8 Pin's

thanks wejy, yup she's all going to be water-cooled, hence the GTX 580 Hydrocopper Classified's sitting in there as well not sure if I'm going to do the chipset at the moment, shall see if I can get hold of a water block first.

haha, the old setup has gone mate, sold it to deb's something which I must still post, but its looking difficult as I have a sky engineer coming round in about half an hour
