I use Ubuntu 10.04 on my PC and I'm pretty happy with it

I was wondering whether any other distros are better.

I've look at Fedora (which is what one of my uni tutors uses) and mint

Are either of these any better or have any advantages over Ubuntu?

Put simply there is no best Linux distro - they all have pluses and minuses.

I use Fedora 14 on my Laptop and am quite happy with it.

The best distro I've used is probably Debian Lenny - not as upto date as Ubuntu releases, but rock solid - may try Debian Squeeze soon.

Personally I could never get on with Ubuntu - don't know why as I'd been using Debian most of the time.

couldnt put it better myself, however the big bonus is because they are free you can try them till your hearts content

i am personally using Lubuntu on a old ultraportable laptop (dell x300) and find it great, boots up so quickly and everything that i want to run on it is super quick, but it has its downfall such as no software centre but its fine for me at the moment,

will probably have a look at Mint LXDE when it is released, also been thinking about trying peppermint - but then again with only a single 1.2 ghz cpu and 512 ram i have to look at the low resource distros for my lappy

No right answer to this one, it's a matter of taste. Gentoo and Arch are my favourites.

I'm a big fan on LMDE for desktop use. As flashy as Ubuntu but with a solid Debian base. (Like Ubuntu used to!)

I also use and recommend Crunchbang (my netbook), Tiny Core (an old P4 desktop) and Debian (server).

I've been using LM10 across the board for the past year, but I'll likely be going to crunchbang, arch, or slackware when I get my new one this summer.

Which is the best Linux distro... The one that suits you...

Gentoo for me, Ubuntu annoys the crap out of me with its bad choices and forced way of doing stuff...
