Livestream is bloody useless. Even on the "low" setting.

EDIT: Ah well. Got a bit better now.

New feature - onboard audio processing. 7.1, 5.1, downmixing to 2-channel surround audio.

Hopefully the r9 290 isn't too steep on price & I like the sound of the true audio, very nice addition, great for mini-ITX gaming systems. :)

I wonder if this will mean the reintroduction of hardware-based audio processing. A feature which Microsoft "thankfully" removed with Vista. Mostly because "premium (audio) content" couldn't be "protected" from thieves like us.

Shame BF4 doesn't seem to support TrueAudio.

Even as a blocky mess Star Citizen looks ****ing great!

Thief 4 looked stunning though, using TrueAudio.

Prices were announced on the slided.

    R9 290X ~ N/A (but most say $599-$699)
    R9 280X ~ $299
    R9 270X ~ $199
    R7 260X ~ $139
    R7 250 ~ $89

Also on some slides it was referring to a 290, along a 290X in separate lines. Might be a typo though.

I believe that 280X looks the most sexy of all, very well placed and 2 of these babies will cost a as much if not less than a single 290X.

Also please note, that PCI-E 3.0 is mandatory to run CF on those cards, since they will use the bus for communication and not external connector.

If AMD sells the 290X sells at $499, the same week that goes on sale, Nvidia is going bust.

Isn't that just for "apps" in Win8? At least it was the last time I heard about hardware audio making a comeback in Win8.

Hmm... Are you absolutely sure about that? Microsoft's documentation states the following:
Don't get me wrong. I'd absolutely love to see hardware-based audio processing back for good in Windows, but it seems that Microsoft isn't too keen on it other than for mobile devices (which are the main platforms for Windows Runtime apps).

Fingers crossed for a sub-$600 R9 290. Just so we can finally tell nV to shove it up their's.

Thinking of getting 3 290's a short while after launch, to see if any badass second-party cards come out, that and a Galaxy HOF 780 for Phyx.

700$ would be a respectable price point. I don't expect it below that, though, obviously I'd like to have one for the steal price of 500$
