Hi All, I have done something I thought I'd never do. It has left me with a very unsettling feeling. [drum roll] I've only gone and set up an AMD (ATI) folder [/drum roll] Having been a nVidia fanboy for ten+ years, I've gone and brought the parts for a dual HD7970 machine. I don't even know what the AMD Catalyst prog. looks like. Wish me luck. it should be running tomorrow.
Well done sir, you should be hitting 1,000,000 ppd with the addition of 2 HD7970's And of course over take me much, much quicker.
Nice one. Will be interesting to see the performance. I was rummaging through some parts and found a Sapphire Radeon X1950XTX - looks great .... and has a nice AGP interface
I wouldn't worry, I can't Fold much this summer due to traveling for work. And as the weather gets warmer things will have to be turned off soon.
With one HD7970 you should be getting anywhere between 90k and 120k at stock speeds. Normally over 100k. WU 9401 looks to be the better one for higher ppd.
Yeah will have to do the same. Also got a holiday coming up next month and will only keep the server running, so it can record TV while I'm away.
My single 7970 runs at 1050MHz and it seems to be reporting 125.000PPD on a 8900 WU. (see link in sig) Time to find another one
Great! lets start an "old Folding gear" thread, post pics of the oldest gear you still have lying around. As stated in this months Custom PC I have an Asus PCH-DL (the SR2 of it's day) with a pair of Gallatin Xeons. As far as I know it is still working. It still has the shorting pins in the CPU sockets to fool the board into thinking the chips are 800MHz (not 533MHz). The RAM is really special too. DDR 3500 C2
