Hi guys n dolls. I would like to introduce you to my entry for the
Thermaltake UK Modding Trophy powered by SCAN.
P.O.D. II, The Stronghold
P.O.D. stands for "Power on demand". It is a concept actuially.
The Stronghold however will be the further thought through and bettered design of a Mod I once made. I didnt have much time then and wanted to make this design in a more intense manner, so here goes.

First of all thanks to Thermaltake, Bit-Tech and all the other partners who made this possibe.
All those who have seen my builds know, but I will mention it once again. POD II like all my other creations will be 100% handmade. I will as usual not use any kind of automative tools like 3d printers, cnc, laser cutters or waterjets or so forth. I will indeed show you some initial skecthes but they are more just the accents and directive hints of what will come and as always will not replicate exactly whats aimed for. The problem I always face is that a plan means you have a guideline which should be followed. Seeing as my method of modding is always subject to dynamic change, and I like to rearrange ideas as I go along, a tense plan would just hinder me. I am a slave to my own philosophy which means every step of the walk is progressive, which inspirationally and constantly changes the way I want the next one to be. I actually also never really know what awaits me . Once I have concepted the ideaand sunk my teeth into it, then a picture of what I want to achieve starts to appear, sounds funnier and its even harder to explain.

I want this case to portray strenght and stability, picture might and steadiness and simply boast of muscle steel and sex appeal. Well thats the plan anyway. In every case I want it to be a functional piece of art.
I will give my best to compete and compare well with the other contestants who I wish good luck too.
Am also curious who else is in and what they come up with.
May the modding begin... more to come.

Here is an initial list of the hardware I have received so far, more is on the way and I will fill the list as it comes.
1x Thermaltake Core X31
2x Thermaltake RL240 Water cooling kits
8x Thermaltake Rling 120mm Red fans
1x Thermaltake Smart DPS G 750 Watt PSU
1x Thermaltake GPU Waterblock PAcific vGTX 970
3x Thermaltake G1000 Red Coolant
1x Thermaltake 6 pack Pacific PetG 166mm OD Adapter Chrome
2x Thermaltake 6 pack Pacific 90° Adatper Chrome
1x Thermaltake 6 pack Pacific 45° Adatper Chrome
1x Kingston HyperX 8Gbyte DDR4 Fury Ram Module
1x Kingston HyperX Savage SSD 240Gbyte

and away we go, its time for the first update, today i checked all the goodies recieved and will be making the first disective cuts tonight, that means the first pics will soon be up.
The stonghold should portray the might if its mighty soul and first of all it will need a sound fundament upon which this muscle can stand. so more will be coming soon.
here are a few pics of all i found in the boxes. Thanks again to Bit-Tech, Thermaltake, Scan and all others involved for making this UK Trophy possible, let the modding begin.

hey bill, yes sir,am also curious what this wild bunch comes up with. am sure we will see some great
handicrafting and am really looking forward to the other mods too.
its always interesting to see what different people make with the same original constellation of hw and conditions. thats what we do at the DCMM annually. we all get a case and psu and have 24 hours to turn hay into gold. plan a never works so we usually start at b and work our way to z.

mine will start with parts which will actually find their place later. the case will be wed into the base for instance.
anyway, we are off the mark and i am sure itll be a great ride..

Not to be a debbie downer, but writing everything in caps makes it kinda hard to read.

thanks guys, it will take some time a few more posts till we all see where i am going with this one.
but i have to start somewhere so today i took the ARMAGEDDON project out of the workshop for need of room to work and started on the STRONGHOLD. first of all i stripped the case of its intestins and entrails and started on the base.

hi guys, so its time for a little update.
i didnt quite finish but am getting there as far as the base is concerned, its almost fully covered now in its stealthy slanted side walls.
I also got rid of the upper 3rd of the case. this core x31 is really wide. anyway, i want that you see the grafik card and most of the hardware better.
i rivetted on some angle aluminium profiles and then cut off the sides,.
note that all these side walls will not be visible later.
more to come..

hi guys here is the next Progress update, am pretty much still building the structure upon which i can build and decorate. anyway, the base is fully covered and finished, i married the tilter and case to the base.
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]

i tested some ideas for the Reservoirs, lets see if they make the finals.
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]

i cut out some more openings where i want to place the radiator to be and fitted them in with some angle aluminium
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]

here i have fitted in the psu so that i can take it out when needed too
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]

i then started with building up the side inner walls
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]

more to come..

so lets see, what did i get done today, i got some of the inner plates, or side walls stuck on, made the front with the usb and audio ports as well as power switch which i salvaged from the original case too. i made a plate for the back whcih will be fixed with magnets tomorrow as well get some fans in the back. more to come tomorrow.

instead of just making an opening i used these cable tunnel thingies, whatchamacallits for the wire feeds. allso from the original case.

didnt get much done today, but the back fans are in, they hatch is secured via magnets and the grips are on to pull it off.
more later. the fans are just build up mock up fans.

ths canflo, yep this is a head on all the way stealthy pod of power. still cant see much yet except that i am having a ball with geo and trigenometry here, getting left and right the same. whew...no two sides are adjacently parallel in this mod.

anyway, i sopent the last few days making the side caskets for speakers in a somewhat different was. the speakers are no cased in a slot in diagonal caseing from which i can even slide the fans in and out if need be. i have built them in such a way as to get that stern look just like some cars have, wehn you look straight at the fans which look a bit like frowning eyes.

here you can see what i mean, a diagonally cut of top headlight look, will be the Rling TT fans though.

hey guys, its update time again.
couldnt really do as much as i wanted, as i had a tv crew here making a portray for a few days, but good thing is, they got this project in too.
anyway, have been finishing the top frame and all the sides execpt for the top back which is stuck on and will be sanded as next. then the main case is done and ready for the set off n deco elements,.
after some puttificative work, will carry on with plexi and meshing as well as switches and drive placements etc..
more to come..
