Looking at adding a GPU to my i7-2600k, but not sure what to go for.

I have an unregistered copy of Windows XP, so can use v7 client no probs.

How are 640, 650 or 650ti at folding?

TBH Scorpuk the kelper GPU are not that good at folding.... yet...... they will be tho... id wait till the Standford releases the optimized core thingy and see peoples results.

if you want to earn big PPD now my GTX560 non Ti is set to run the beta WU 8057 its getting that WU 90% of the time and getting 125k ppd

    i red that the 570/580 pulls 200k + :D

I'm looking at getting a 670/680 for gaming, and folding,

    And keep the 560 to fold, I've also just bought a 480 which pulls 130k + :)

But don't forget this beta WU won't last forever ;)

Think I'll hold off on the 680/690 and fold on my gaming rig while I am away.

Just bought 9 WD 3TB RED HDD's to replace the 6 2TB drives I have in the server. Will run them in Raid 6. :D

Early Christmas present for myself. :D

I know they are power hungry but overclockers has some GTX480s for £72!

Does this mean that the difference between Nvidia and AMD will be reduced, or will Nvidia still be dominant in the folding world? Was thinking of replacing my HD 5850 with a GTX 660 for gaming and I chose the Nvidia card over the AMD HD 7870 on folding alone but now not sure as the reduced power draw of the AMD card is very tempting...

im not sure about AMD GPU's at present .
they didnt produce as much PPD as Nvidia but what put me off isthat AMD GPU's use 1 full CPU core to fold on which hurts SMP if you fold on your CPU

    HTH

I've recently bought a GTX 660, as it was on offer on Dabs.com and came with AC3.

Does anyone fold on one of these cards yet, and what sort of PPD do you get?

I'm hoping to switch to100% CPU folding and a GPU slot, should see 25,000 PPD at least hopefully... Better than my 12,500 PPD at the moment!

I'm running a GTX 650 Ti and get around 16-18k PPD with a pretty nice OC (+160 MHz clock using Precision X).
