Can the long-awaited return of Max Payne meet up to expectations?

So the legend lives on - and largely unspoilt at that. While I'm too mean to snap this up at full price, I know a certain mate of mine at work will happily throw down a wad of cash when I point him at this review. Cheers!

 

Great to see Max back and he hasn't been messed about with.

 

Enjoyed the first two and been looking forward to this, looks decent enough just a shame the pc version is about a month behind the consoles

 

I had been worried that this would be a complete massacre of the original Max Payne games, I'm quite happy that it appears to have stayed faithful. Good review, and a game I'll pick up some time down the line.

 

I hope someone makes a Terry Tibbs voice mod.

 

I'd pretty much written this game off before review - I couldn't see how they could make a setting change work for a new MP, but I'm a bit more convinced now. I'll pick it up when it's down in a sale.

 

Quite possibly my game of the year.

 

Any idea if the PC version will have mod support? I remember having a blast with Matrix/Equilibrium mods back in the day....

 

Loving this review, looking forward to playing this. Different story, better graphics and pretty much the same game play......I can handle that! If it ain't broke......don't fix it!! I am just wondering if the 80% goes with the overall feeling of the written review? Don't usually comment on the %......guess I am a fan of the series. Does that make me a fan boy....errrrr!!

 

I dunno... still not convinced but hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised.

 

Of all the weeks to release a game, you think they would have delayed it or brought it forward it a week.

Hopefully it is as good as the last 2 games, and hopefully this isnt overshadowed by the release of D3 and forgotten about.

What was marketing at Rockstar thinking?

 

Did HEALTH do the soundtrack or am I thinking of something else?

 

Welcome back Max, I look forward to adding this one to my collection.

I think I'll run through both MP games again in preparation.

 

Cause it's not out for PC till June 1st.

 

LOL. Diablo 3 or Max Payne 3? I just can't decide... the two games are so similar.

 

And D3 isn't out for consoles, so the games are only competing for players who buy games for both systems, which I imagine is a pretty small number.

 

cant wait for Max Payne 4 where Max returns to the city... all dark and grey with many many silhouettes....

if i want color, theres Crysis and Far Cry.


that said, im very intrigued with multiplayer.........

 

It needs a Kung Fu mod like the original had. But it'll probably be a real swine to mod if Rockstar have anything to do with it.

 

The problem with Max Payne is that it was a game with a gimmick, and that gimmick is now half-gone. Without the noir setting and comic book presentation, all we have is slow-motion, and in 2012 that is not enough to set a game apart anymore.
