Looking for a VPS recommendation: Minimum price for:
    512MB RAM,
    10GB HDD Space,
    100GB Bandwidth,
    EU Location,
    OS: CentOS
    and ONE IPv4 address

    To run a Minecraft server!
    Cheapest I've found is here: http://www.minivps.co.uk/premiumvps.php £5.50 p/m.

    Thanks! fuus

RAM seems a bit low for a Minecraft server.

It's only for 8ish of us max. Most of the time only 2 or 3 people will be online :)

$9.95, that is about £6.1. 25GB disk space and 500GB Bandwidth. Truth be told, i don't have experience with their OpenVZ VPS, i use a Xen based server (about 13-14 euros per month).

Envioushost are quite reasonably priced for both normal and vps servers, you should have a look at them.

Yes I run a minecraft server with 3GB of RAM and it struggles sometimes with 4 of us. I would advise looking for more RAM if possible.

Also may I ask why a VPS? Why not just rent a MC server? You will get far better server management tools/panels.

I detest those server management panels! They're horrific to use, I like commanding my server using only a Linux command prompt... Beta builds when I want etc.

You can put beta builds on when you want anyway ... :/

I used to run the Bit-tech Unofficial on Linux via cmd and was a pain to troubleshoot when it wouldn't run. Tehn we moved it to a Linux Game Panel and then to Windows.

I now run the Tekkit server for BLC on my Windows Box.

Hetzner have first class support - https://robot.your-server.de/order/market

I had an issue once and i had to contact support, have had previous support issues with Amazon AWS so i was expecting that type of experience, couldn't have been more different. No 1st line drones, you're straight through to someone who knows what they're talking about.

    I pay £18.23 / mo for an Athlon 64 5600x2 (dual core) with 2Gb ram and 2x 320Gb disks RAID1.

Dead easy to install whatever OS you want. My box doesn't boot with Solaris 10 (although i was free to try), so i'm running FreeBSD 6.0 but all the usual linux distros etc. are well supported. Their automated installer system is trivial to use but you can also just ssh in and customise anything to suit during the install.

The control panel systems I've used before are limited to only recommended Bukkit Builds!

I went with Envious in the end - £4.50 a month for 1GB Ram, Dual Xeons etc....
