So what does bit tech like to drink (apart from tea coffee or coke !) Beer wise I like any kind of real ale, I'll even go for a pint of guiness, which at one point was all I would drink. That said I love my old Cornish ales from home too, so Cornish Knocker, Doom Bar etc are fantastic too Then I was introduced to cider, quite into that. Bulmers, Magners and given that I'm Wston Super Mare, Thatchers goes down quite well. Recently gotten into Vodka too, have taken quite a liking to Baks Bison Grass
They do a pear one too but not so keen on that. Iceland do it as well but usually more expensive, even when they have their 3 for £5 offer on.
Kingston Press is very nice. Partial to Green Golbin and Old Rosie, I also love anything from Badger Brewery; their Golden Champion, Hopping Hare, Fursty Ferret and Blandfrod Flyer and definitely ones to look out for.
Shocked to see someone who drinks the same way as me! Old Rosie down the pub. Russian Standard when I need a tipple and Snow Queen or Uluvka when I decide to treat myself. Although now I've moved on to home-made cider. Tastier, cheaper and stronger than anything you can buy!
I once drank cider from a local brewery in cheddar, me and my fariends were camping out in some guys allotment, I sh!t you not we had to actually get comfortable in the guys cabbage furrows. The cider was proper cloudy scrumpy and had dead wood louse in the bottom. That's hardcore scrumpy for ya
Homebrew my own range of beers here, I particularly enjoy stouts. I also do a little work at a local brewery for fun. Mark
Common myth. Proper cider should be clear and no dead woodlice....even classic west country cider should be clear. "Scrumpy" is typically a fermented liquid produced when water is pressed through the remaining apple mash after the first press, and was originally sold cheaper or given away to friends and family, and never given the proper conditioning after primary fermentation to induce clarity. Never put up with very cloudy cider. The only excuse is bottle conditioned ciders that have a lees which has settled to the bottom and later been shaken up before pouring. Even then, it's not ideal. I made approximately 11 gallons of cider from scratch last year, I didn't use a drop of pectolase or any other chemical or fancy methods, and the product is crystal clear all the way through.
I have two one is Mainstay Cane and where I come from we call it spook and diesel which is cane and coke. the second is Captain Morgan spice gold
In the spirit of austerity I have been exploring cheap but quality booze. My findings do far: Vodka: Tamovar (Aldi) or Putinov (Lidl); puts much more expensive brands to shame. Wine: Red: Vina Decana or Aldi's Bordeaux Superieure; White: Tesco's Picpoul (if you can find it), Domaine Des Cantreaux (Aldi). Gin: Oliver Cromwell 1599 (Aldi) I make my own Limoncello nowadays. It's cheaper and better.
Um okay then I'm lying............... This was when I was 16, 25 years ago and it's 100% true. The number one best cider I have ever had was in a pub right on the edge of the new forest it was bright orange and cloudy and for the life of me I can't remember the name but it was brewed very locally, ringwood if I recall correctly.
