My TV in the living room is slowly but surely dying and to be quite honest I don't think I am going to replace it because it gets very little use. Instead I was thinking of installing a TV card in a PC I have kicking about. Specs: CASE: Fractal Core 1000. Mobo: MSI H61-P23(B3). HDD 1: 60GB Vertex 2 SSD. HDD 2: 250 GB. CPU: Intel G620. RAM: 8GB DDR CM3X2G1333C9. GPU: Radeon 4850. PSU: Jeantech JN120F-500AP. Optical Drive. I know nothing of TV cards but it would be useful if it came with a remote control and really do not want to spend very much as I could probably get a cheapo TV if a card was going to prove pricey.
I'm not sure if these are available in the UK or not, but the Ceton InfiniTV 4 products are the absolute best TV tuners you can get. They have a PCI Express version and a USB version. All you need is a cable card from your local cable provider, and you can tune in to 4 streams at once
Hauppauge WinTV Nova T 500 (dual DVB-T tuners) is cheap and PCI. I've had one of these running 24/7 for maybe 6 years and it's still trucking.
Can't connect to cable legally in the UK. Only the providers boxes are allowed to connect. Blackgold do some of the best ones. Not cheap but great cards
